Loved these shoes! Excellent arch support. I normally wear orthotics and didn’t even need them with these shoes. Great stability and styled for those of us with over pronation. I loved them so much I ordered another pair!

These must be returned. They were perfect around the house. Went for a run, and felt like I was running in flip flops. Very stiff with a larger than average, slipping heel. Although, I love New Balance, this model is not for me.

Simply the best and most supportive shoe. I work in a clinic setting and am on my feet a lot, these shoes help me manage my osteoarthritis and lower back issues.

This style is my favorite because it fits my orthotics and is very comfortable. I wear these shoes ALL the time.

I reviewed this shoe when I bought it in grey. I tried a few other things that didn't work in between, so I came back and bought another pair of these in black. I've probably upgraded my ratings in between due to my lack of success elsewhere. This shoe fits me very well. It's wide enough in the front and the shoe box is deep enough without the shoe being too wide in the heel. That's a problem I often have with shoes other than New Balance. And I'm not usually crazy about black athletic shoes, but I like these. The fabric gives them a sort of velvety look. I think the blue ones are too bright for me . . . but, who knows, maybe I'll be back again next week!! :-)

I'm not a fan of white-walls, but other than that minor quibble, I have nothing bad to say about these shoes. I wish they came in a greater variety of colors; there are not a lot of shoes I like that provide the right support for over-pronation. These shoes were comfortable from the moment I put them on. I've found that the mesh in walking or running shoes is very forgiving and more likely to make shoes comfortable. I've been away from New Balance for a while, but this pair just may bring me back to them. I had forgotten that New Balance manages to have women's shoes that are wide enough in the front without being too wide in the heel.

I normally wear a 9.5W/WW/D in street shoes, but I've discovered I need a 10 in a treadmill shoe. That being said, after 3 other shoes I've tried in the last 8 months, a 10 only works for me if the toe of the shoe is rounded, not pointy (goodbye, Asics and Sauconys). The 10wide in this shoe is doing very well for me. I was also looking for a shoe that would help with overpronation and have a deep toe box, and these NB work for me there, too. I do switch out the insoles for a bit more sturdiness and arch support, like Super Feet Green (wide), Powerstep Memory Foam, Orthaheel Active, and Dr Scholl's heavy duty runners (in men's sizes, to get the width). Now I have a shoe with great stability, arch support, lightness, and overall support that enables me to do my daily miles with no foot pain. So, if you have short toes and a broad foot which doesn't like pointy toes, give the NB a try.

These ran slightly large, ordered my usual size 8 and they felt big and heavier than expected. That said the shoe itself felt very comfortable. The rubber sole squeaks loudly. I returned these for a pair of Asics that I feel fit more true to size and are quieter.

I have bunions, orthotics and extremely wide feet. I am CONSTANTLY having to send back shoes to Zappos because I have a hard time getting shoes that fit. These shoes felt great and my orthotics fit perfectly. Thanks Zappos. You're the wind beneath my wings!

I have been wearing these 940v3 for a week and my feet are so happy!! I have had heel pain for 1-2 months and needed a shoe that offered cushioning and stability. I have been wearing NB sneakers for years, and found these on your website. Great explanation of the technology this shoe offers. I tried a couple of Fresh Foam styles, which were ok. I usually use prescription orthotics, but they were hurting my heel. They will fit in these 940v3, which I will probably use when my heel is better. The orthotics did not fit well in the Fresh Foam styles.

This is the first pair of shoes that I've never had to "break in." They felt 100% comfortable from the first time I put them on and I have very wide feet so this is a first for me! They do only have a bit of arch support so I had to buy insoles for that as I have plantar fasciitis and have high arches so I need the extra support but other than that I give these an A+! New Balance athletic shoes usually last me a few years so I may buy another pair just to have on hand when these wear down.

These are great shoes! Plenty of cushion with some decent stability. I mildly pronate, left foot more than the right, and have hyper mobility in my left big toe joint. So not enough stability for the left foot but I got some vionic inserts and it's a good combination. I have a wider toe box but a narrow heel. My ideal shoe size is 8W and I typically have to deal with some heel slippage. I bought an 8.5 W due to reading review these run slight small. Reviews are correct. I do not experience heel slippage because of the generous length of the laces and high placement of the lace holes. I do not run but am active in my profession as a Physical Therapist. I choose to wear New Balance for work. I also ordered the NB 1260, which I actually prefer for the stability. But I am keeping both shoes to alternate, as any good physical therapist will tell you, never wear the same shoes 2 days in a row!

This is a great shoe if you are in need of solid support and the ability to use a custom orthotic. Love that it comes in the narrow width, but as most athletic shoes these days you will need to go up in length about a size from what you measure. It has some anti-shock but is more solid that cushioning. If you want a more cushioned shoe I suggest the Brooks Glycerine. The 2 colors this come in are great too. The blue is nice with denim, and the gray doesn't show the soil like white. Both would be a nice compliment to any wardrobe.

I've recently tried more than 40 pairs of shoes only to find that New balance has it going on. My doctor recommended a couple of other name brands along with New Balance and I have to tell you hands down for my wide feet and the start of neuropathy happening due to my diabetes this shoe works for me. I love that they come in extra wide - I bought size 8 1/2 2e and I have room across the toe box now, I have arch support exactly where it's needed and the shock absorption is out of this world. New balance has me as a lifetime customer and advocator. Thank you zappos for offering these wonderful shoes.

Purchased these shoes for work. I'm on my feet all day and need the stability. I also have very wide feet and a low arch. I use an extra support insert and the shoe is perfect. I'm normally a 10 but ordered a 10 1/2 and im glad I did. Great buy.

I believe I just ordered wrong size. I'm a 9 D or 9 W and had ordered in EW, so they felt way to big for proper support.

Love this shoe! Perfect fit right out of the box with AMAZING arch support! I’m normally a size 11 - 11 1/2, but I like a little extra toe room in my running shoes...the size 12 was just right. The shoe color is a little darker/brighter than shown...but who cares? :) I need these for the miles I spend walking/running on pavement, and they fit the bill!

I purchased the beautiful bright blue and white version of this shoe. I usually wore the W680v3 and v4, and I was casting around tried to find a replacement when they disappeared. These seemed solid, but the usual 11D that I wear was TOO long. (hardly ever happens!) My foot was slipping out of the back. It also seemed a tad tight on the side. Odd. The footbed is not as squishy as you'd hope either. I have returned my "usual" size in NB and am trying the 10 1/2 DOUBLE wide (good grief) which I hope will magically work- because these shoes are a a COLOR POP! Thanks for the free returns ;)

Good support and cushioning but unfortunately not the usual amount of room in the toe box for a SL-2 last.

This is a really good looking shoe, and sizing is very true to size. I need a shoe for overpronation/stability. I have a couple pairs of Hoka One One Gaviota 2 which offer the perfect support and balance for me; however, they are not very attractive as the soles flare out all around the shoe like standing on a raft. The NB W940v3 is also described as being a shoe for overpronation and stability, and is much sleeker in appearance. However, wearing the NB sent pain up my hamstrings within the first few minutes. Using the manufacturer’s insole or swapping it out for my custom orthos made no difference - crippling pain. Nothing in the description states it, but I think this NB shoe is geared for a high arch and I am flat-footed. I’m sorry, Zappos. You have been so very patient during my quest, but this pair is also coming back to you.

I was looking for a walking shoe in the 2E size, these are running shoes. I wanted something with maximum Cushion or memory foam. These shoes are stiff and feel heavy, I have bunions and arthritis in my toes so need a wider shoe but my heel keeps slipping in these. My orthotics didn’t fit well inside these shoes either.

After reading a few initial reviews of excellent arch support, pronation control, comfort, I was excited to get these to replace my NB 1260 v5, (which NB quit making and the successor no longer resembles it). I should have read further in to the reviews; they do have better pronation control than some others but as a few said, these do not have great cushion and arch support is moderate at best. The trouble was the clunkiness of this shoe maybe due to the bottom flare, or drop ratio or something! In my experience these shoes did not provide a smooth gait and to the contrary were hard to walk in for long distances. (I am a 2 + mike per day jogger/walker). I found them so awkward they hurt my ankles. As disappointing as these things were, the most annoying aspect was how a few others mentioned the noise these made- a clopping sound. If you can believe all the glowing reviews, perhaps my experience is just an exception. Unfortunately I must keep looking. If anyone knows the features of the 1260v5 and has a comparable replacement, please let me know!
