These seem comfortable and sturdy, but they aren't designed for short people. I'm 5'2" with a 20" calf and these don't fit well. As you can see from the photos, they're tightly tapered along the curve of your calf for a more flattering look. For people who have short calves, the taper is too small, and the boot won't fit.

This boot fit great i still had some room in the calf so i can tuck my jeans in comfortably and it not be to tight. The main problem i have with these boots is that there is no cushion or support in them at all. I had hoped for some given how much they cost but an insert should take care of it.

Love this boot. Fit my left calf perfectly. The other boot was tight on my right calf. I figured it would stretch in time and fit like the left boot. Both ankles were loose and kinda slouchy looking. That was fine, except the right boot looked like it had a fold on the ankle instead of just a slouchy look. I tried pulling the top of the boot higher, but it still looked the same. Oh well, try try again. Both boots felt a bit loose in the foot bed which would work perfectly with an extra sock or footie for additional warmth.

You need extremely wide calves for this boot to fit you. It seems wider than the 20" indicated. It was comfortable overall, just too wide for me.

These are pretty good wide-calf boots. I've been searching for a classic pair of riding boots and these pretty much fit the bill. I have very slim ankles and 19" calves, and the cut of these doesn't cause bunching at my ankle, which I really like. They easily zip over jeans and are very comfortable to wear all day. My one wish is that the shaft was a couple of inches taller because they do stop right at the fullest part of my calf, I'm 5'6", and aren't the most flattering for that reason. But the other good attributes make up for that, so i'm keeping them.

The wide calf is very generous and comfortable, though the boot appeared clunky to me when I tried it on. I will therefore be returning it.

When the description says wide calf, they aren't kidding. I'm a very sport-calved person and tend to need wide calf boots, but even on me these were large. Otherwise the style is great and they were comfortable.

I love this boot. It's cute, comfy, and the calf width fits perfectly. I ordered a 7 1/2 which is my usual size. I would order it in more colors if I could afford it.

Loved the idea that they were in my size and that the calf was so large, BUT the back of the heel is way too large and my foot slips around. I tried assorted inner soles but nothing helped. So sadly I am returning them.

I brought this for the extra width in the boot shaft and yes they actually fit my thick calves! And they feel good too. I normally wear an 8.5 and have a wide foot (but not wide enough to wear a D width shoe) and a super high instep/arch to my foot. I ordered a 9 in these and I'm so glad I did -- perfect fit. I also have some joint issues but these shoes have a good bend in them and feel good while walking in them. Very happy that I ordered these! And yes, I felt the suede and leather are both nice, quality products.

I'm going to return these. The calf was a little too big but I could have lived with that. The right boot was comfortable but it seemed as if something was skewed about the left boot. It was uncomfortable when I tried them on. Skewed is the best way I can describe it so maybe I got a defective pair. I don't think my left foot has changed. Beautiful boots though.

Unfortunately, despite all the reviews claiming that these ‘extra’ wide calf boots were able to zip around people's calves who had never been able to wear boots before, they did not work for me. I sent them back. Not sure why manufacturers don’t include some sort of stretchy material in these kinds of boots, but what do I know? Sticking with ankle boots this year again.

The calf was very wide. I have pretty big calves and it was still big. I would have kept them however, the shoe felt awkward when I walked. I am a 6.5 W . I purchased the WW. While my foot fit the show it was an akward feel when i walked.

I have searched for a wide shaft, wide foot, and wide ankle knee-high boot for years. I thought I found it until it fit the right foot but not the left. The left would not zip at all. Manufacturers. We like boots that fit the larger foot, wide ankle and wide calf. Most often if the calf is wide the ankle is also. I have bilateral lymphedema and my left leg is larger than my right. So I try to buy two sizes up to make both legs fit into the boot. David Tate do you have a larger size with a wider ankle and shaft? I need it. thanks

I am 5'4" and have a left calf that is 18" and a right calf that is 17". These boots are too wide on my calf. I like them, but wish the boot height was taller. If it was, I might deal with the too wide calf. Sadly, I seem to have calves that are too wide for normal wide calf boots, and too narrow for ULTRA wide calves. If you have calves that are 18+ I would suggest you try these. Although I don't like that they are not proper riding boot height (they came down 2+ inches below my knee) I do like how plain they are. So many boots have too much stuff - logos, gold buckles, etc. These are nice plain boots for 18 - 21 sized calves.

Quality was good. The look was good. However, if you have thick legs (ankle up to to of calf) this probably isn't the boot for you. The ankle was really really tight. I couldn't get the boot zipped. The top of the boot would not have been a problem as there would have been plenty of room, but the rest of the boot was small shaft. Super nice quality and nice looking boot. I don't blame zappos nor the boot....likely my leg. Perhaps if you have cankles or thick legs from knee to ankle, this isn't the boot for you.

Well one boot fits my calf. The other is too small :( probably my calves though. Doesn' matter much though since they seem to be made for someone who has ankles that are the same size as their calves. The boot that fit slumped down and bunched horribly at the ankle. It looked really sloppy so I won't bother keeping them to see if I can get the small one stretched the small amount I would need.

These were so large, that I could take them on and off without unzipping them.

These boots are lovely, and fit my foot, but the shaft was too wide - gaped at least two inches in the back. As I wear a large size (13 M), I'm used to boots not fitting exactly, but this was too much. Better that these are labeled extra wide, not just wide.

I so wanted to love these boots. They felt really nice inside. Soft interior. Too wide in shaft which never happens to me. Sad I had to return.

These were incredibly wide in the calf. I have very large calves and these still have great big gaps in the back. I looked like a pirate.

These were SO comfortable on that I wanted to love them. Unfortunately, I couldn't get over the fact that I looked like a pirate in them. I have wide calfs (17.5) and yet these boots were still huge around the top.

The boots are really nice but calf is HUGE. My calf circumference is 20 inches and the boot is larger than 20 inches.
