Great shoes! They fit very well and because I have such flat feet, I added Dr. Scholls' inserts. I work in a hospital and am on my feet several hours a day but no sore feet. One minor problem; you could not be a burglar with these shoes. They do squeak a bit when you walk, but it's not a big deal. Overall, I am very pleased with the shoes.

Most comfortable NB ever. I have feet that ache. I've always been a NB 991 loyalist until I tried this 840v3. I wear 8.5 2E and these are the absolute best out of the box. I even purchased the Brooks Addiction: they're good, but not as good as the 840v3.

Put no value in New Balance's widths. Per doctor's orders I needed to start wearing wider shoes. As instructed by various websites, I traced my feet very carefully and looked up my width on several different charts. According to my length, my width should be "E". New Balance doesn't have 'E", but only "EE". I ordered two pairs of shoes that I really liked how they looked, and one pair of 840's on the recommendation of a friend who already had them. I ordered all three pairs in 12 EE. "EE" should have been big on me. However, the 840's just fit and I could barely even get my feet into the other two pairs! I like New Balance and have worn only New Balance for a long time. Returns are easy. They are a very reputable company. However, be aware that their widths will not tell you anything.

At 6'3' & 300+ lbs. these shoes have answered the call...!!! Great for heavyweight walking, comfortable and sharp looking! I would highly recommend these shoes for larger individuals who need maximum shock absorption! Great recommendation from local NB store & I will buy more ASAP!
