Use for trail running on relatively smooth trails. Not great on very rocky trails.

As a nurse I'm on my feet 12 hours a day. Over the last ten years, and many other brands of shoes, it has taken its toll on my feet. When I placed the Hoka brand on my feet I actually felt comfort immediately. I was surprised. Because my plantars and heels have been a cause of a lot of pain over the last 3-4 years. These shoes hugged my feet in a way it supported perfectly my plantars and heels, just what they needed. Thank you to the creators of these shoes!

I bought a pair of women's Gaviota shoes when they first came out and loved them so much, I bought a second pair. Still love them so much, I wanted a third pair. I wear a women's 11 and Hoka was out of this size. I researched and a men's 10 is the same as a women's 11 - so I bought a pair of those. These are the most awesome training shoes. I am 64 years old and run hills four days a week - and need to take care of these knees and hips. Running in Gaviotas certainly helps.

I use the shoes for support and comfort as I am in my eighties and my legs are a bit weak from chemo

Another great shoe from Hoka. Gaviota has great balance, even as a part time off road shoe. Surprisingly lightweight for a stability shoe and ventilates well.

If you have pain, the stability and cushion, combined with a moderately stiff rocker sole is an unbeatable solution. This show delivers all of these benefits.

The pain I had in my foot has gone away since I've been wearing this shoe. Incredibly comfortable. I feel confident I can begin to run again now

I am a woman with surgically reconstructed feet who can only wear shoes with a straight last, as I need stability, and I have been wearing only a few selected models of Hokas for several years. I mourned the demise of the Constant, but have been happily wearing the Gaviota since the Constant was laid to rest. When my last pair of women's Gaviota wore out (they only last about 3.5 months) and the only color that came in the wide width that I also require was unavailable, I decided to buy a pair made for men. My 8.5 W women's size translates very well to the men's 7 medium, and I am delighted not only with my new shoes, but with the color choice. However, any woman who wears a shoe smaller than an 8.5 is stuck because the men's shoes start at a size 7. So while I am very happy with what I'm wearing now, I wish Hoka would make this shoe in more colors in a wide width for women. I suspect that there will soon be an update in women's sizes because they are almost entirely sold out, but when I've inquired about this to Hoka I could not get any kind of answer.

I bought my first pair three years ago and ran my second half marathon in those shoes. I ran my first marathon in my second pair and I will run my second marathon in my third pair of Gaviotas. I've had other shoes in between, other Hokas and non-Hoka shoes but these are, hands down, my favorites.

I suffer from plantar fasciitis and achiles tendon tendinitis, since 2006. No tennis no running for 12 years, just cycling, as riding bicycles bears no impact on one's joints. Doctor treated me with fisiotherapy, arch support insoles for dress shoes, splints at night and laptop bed table to achieve right foot posture. After several weeks, pain disappeared and I was able to run with the Gaviota shoes, recommended by the Doctor. First three days the shoes harmed my feet, particularly the arch area, but once the shoes wore out, the pain disappeared. Great cushion, width and sizing just perfect, very responsive, great traction on wet concrete and asphalt. I am eager to try with arch support insoles the Bondie and the Speed Goat on the Highlands. Thanks guys for helping me hit the road again.

I had plantar fasciitis & a heel spur since October 2017! I work retail in a footwear department and I'm on my feet all day! Before trying Hoka I had tried 2 other brands that did not work for my feet. I was extremely desperate as the pain was affecting my work performance & there was days I couldn't walk! I decided to try the Hoka Gaviotas & Arahis because they were the most stable choice. A stability shoe was a must because I also pronate and have extremely flat feet. I want to say that as of July 2018 the pain is 90-95% gone! The maximum cushion has really relieved pressure on my heel & the middle of my foot. These shoes have completely changed my life! I'm so thankful that they worked for me and definitely think they're worth a try if you're suffering with plantar fasciitis! Please note that there was a break in period of about a week for me!

My wife wish there's one for women in the same color in 7.5 wide Gaviota blue-green. She would buy one or maybe in different model but same color as mine.

I was getting back to running after 15 years off. I had terrible knee pain after my first classes on a shock absorbing treadmill. I couldn't walk for days after each class. I ordered a bunch of running sneakers that had great reviews for reducing knee pain. After trying several, including the beloved Brooks Ghost, i can say that the Hoka Gaviota are in their own class. It feels like you are running on a cloud. I had terrible knee pain with every other pair i tried. I've now run 10 miles in the Hoka's and have no knee pain at all! This is a miracle shoe. They aren't good looking shoes, but they are a life-saver for 'runner's knee' which is all that matters.

I work as a commercial photographer, custom framer, and art installer. On my feet and up and down ladders all day. At 63 was starting to have balance and stability issues. These shoes have been a huge help. It's like I'm 59 again! My wife is a second grade teacher and she is on her feet all day and is pleased with hers as well.

I actually really like the shoes, the fit would be perfect for me if it wasn't for the arch. That's been a concern for me. I don't feel it is the height as much as the placement of it. The line of the arch lands too inside on the foot and makes for an uncomfortable feel. I would wear them all day but after an hour or so my feet feel tired/ sore. I have been recommending the shoes to all the people that I can without mentioning the downside. Thanks for a great product the market really needs an awesome shoe.

I purchased these for my husband to replace his previous pair. He's training for his 2nd NYC marathon and these are the shoes he's come to completely rely on for his wide, flat feet. Running was actually painful for him until he found these running shoes last year! He now won't wear anything else. His only complaint is the only color [boring gray for those with EE feet] isn't very exciting or motivating, but he's completely willing to put up with dull-colored running shoes for the ability to run in comfort.

Best shoe I have ever worn, and I'm 13 triple wide. My caveman feet are comfy all day. Burke rehabilitation recommended these with a few other brands, but these fit the best, looked the best and wore the best. Highly recommend to anyone. They now have a lifetime customer with me.

These are the most comfortable workout shoes I've ever owned. I do Orangetheory 4-5 days a week. Great on the treadmill but also in the weights and ply metrics as well

I just got back into running after some time off and dealing with various leg and foot injuries. Was recommended by a doctor when discussing getting back into running. Three weeks in and building up gradually, the shoes are lightweight, stable and provide wonderful cushioning in my runs. I will be a repeat buyer.
