ok...so i am a big old guy...5'11 /285 # work as a nurse...on my feet for 14 hours solid on hard cement/tile...that is what i buy the shoe for...NB makes some killer orthotics and i buy those and pull out the ones the shoes come with...as they are a joke.... the toe box is nice and high..the orthos fit well also is wide in the 4e... these shoes are the SL-2 last which has a wide high toe box..high arch and narrow heel ...which is my foot...i have jp minor...drew...nike..dr comfort.. and a few others..all 200 dollars ++ and these shoe fit the best and feel the best...just got home after a tough day...6a-2146 and my feet still feel ok... for the money a great buy... have to see how long they last... but i can buy 3 pairs and be the same price as my other shoes..and they fit and feel a lot better....
I'd also recommend:

Great shoe for health care work. These shoes have no style other than being murdered out. This blandness has a quality to it and makes this shoe good for uniformity. No holes in the toe box. Good for keeping body fluids out of your socks. Non-slip sole. Comfortable.

I've worn these shoes every weekday for 8 months now, and I don't recommend them. The size is good, but the comfort is poor. These shoes do not breathe; so, expect to have hot feet. The insole is unacceptably thin and hard; so, expect to buy a real insole for arch support and cushion. When the outer shoe material is scuffed, an unacceptable light brown under-color is revealed. The dark brown outer-color is just too thin. The style is just okay. The tongue is too thick at the ankle which causes trouble for your pants cuff. I didn't get my money's worth this time; and, I will avoid these in the future.

I’ve lived in high-end, New Balance walking shoes for years and have probably owned 20-25 pairs of the 926, 27, and 928’, so I was rather discouraged when I tried to buy some more, only to discover that New Balance butchered the toe box on the V2 and then made a lame attempt to fix it on the V3. (if you don’t believe me, read the reviews of others.) I wasted money buying the 1240 and 947 both which hurt the side and balls of my feet. I just tried the 813 because some reviews indicated these shoes remained true to the SL-2 last, but I disagree. This shoe is a joke! I wore a 13 4E in the 928 V1 and all the models that came before, but even a 14 4E in the 813 feels constricted in the toe box. I exchanged them for a 14 6E, which finally gave me the width and length I needed, but the toe box is so deep that when I took a step, the material on top of the toe box collapsed, with parts of the leather creasing down and the other part protruding up. But there is a happy ending. Out of desperation, I splurged and bought a pair of SAS “About Time” in 13 Wide. Perfect!!! What an incredibly comfortable, well-made shoe! San Antonio Shoes are my new, New Balance.

These are basically the only sneakers on earth that fit me. They are very comfortable and available in 4E, which is an uncommon width. I wore the 812s for years, and these are a perfect replacement for them.

I am 80 years old and have been trying to find a pair of sneakers that fit my very wide feet my whole life ! Finally, I found them ! On top of fit, they are super soft, comfy, and look great ! Good arch support as well. These shoes might just add a few more years to my life !

These didn't last as long as I had hoped or expected. After a short lifetime of not very intensive use, the bottom sole is detaching. Just everyday wear, no walking routine, no running, no hiking etc. They have been comfortable, but not durable. Disappointed. Time to get out the shoe goo.

I bought these shoes for my son, who wears a 6E width. Very hard to find this size, tho there is one store locally that has them, at twice the price. So to find these at such a great price, and that fit his very wide feet is so great! He states that they fit very comfortably, and he is quite happy with them. Thanks!

I am 55 yrs. old and walk 3milesper day with my dog for exercise. I suffer from intermittent plantar fasciitis, which would leave me unable to exercise some days. These shoes have made me foot pain free for the first time in several years.

I haved purchased this shoe several times in the past because it has always been wide enough to accommodate my wide feet made extra wide by bunions. After wearing this pair several days, my right foot felt really squeezed in the width. I thought the shoes might stretch some, so I tried them out three times, giving my feet a rest for about a month between each try. I saw no improvement. I think I'll order another pair just to make sure I didn't get a undersized pair due to manufacturing variation.

My husband needed comfortable shoes for those times when he didn't need to be in a suit and tie but had to wear professional clothing. We specifically were looking for really comfortable shoes to wear for standing for long periods of time and admittedly he is harder to fit because he has a narrow foot. We went to Nordstroms first and didn't hesitate to buy an all black pair of Mephisto shoes which seemed to fit the bill - although they did NOT have any options for a narrow width. He returned them after a day saying even with inserts they didn't fit and he had to tie the laces up really tight. The ability to do a search based on specific criteria on the Zappos website is VERY helpful and we found two all black shoes in his size and narrow width. Amazingly enough this pair out to the two order were the least expensive AND the most comfortable and he is extremely happy. The arch support is good, the fit perfect. They don't look like dress shoes but being all black they pass for nice casual shoes and unless one really looks they wouldn't know they are "athletic" shoes. We both recommend this shoe AND Zappos.

It seems like New Balance has changed their lasts. I have tried 3 different styles and they are all so narrow I can't wear them. I have been wearing MW840 for a few years in a 2E when the weather is warmer with lighter socks and a 4E in the winter with heavy socks. Since the V1 are no longer available I went to V2 and they were far too narrow. So I tried the 577 and the 813. I went to 6E in the 813 and those are too narrow too. Very discouraging. I don't know where to turn now.

The quality and finish of this shoe is excellent. I bought black and brown for work. I found the fit to be awkward, the toe box was high and bulb-like, compared to the ankle which felt tight. The soles are completely flat, so I found walking uncomfortable, stepping down with a jolt because there's no curve at the heel for a smooth stride. So I'm sending them back. Customer service is great, I'll have to look for a more sneaker-like shoe that I can wear to work, I have chronic back pain so I need a smooth walking shoe.

Way too big. I'm wearing New Balance right now in a size 13 and they fit perfectly. This New Balance in a 13 is at least a full size too big!

I have been wearing this model for years and it easily the most comfortable of all the New Balance shoes I own. Other 6Es I purchased were a bit narrow probably due to the style of the shoe.

I like the fit because I have a very wide foot and for the winter I wear socks. They look great and feel great. They are waterproof I’ve just got done using them. This pair of shoes grabbed the ice and snow better then my other shoes. They work well for me because I usually don’t have to go through heavy snow.

Very comfortable. The shoe tongue is longer than other shoes. The tongue stays put and doesn't slip down.

I bought this shoes as for my everyday use and for its lower price and free shipping, as I wanted to protect my other 3 shoes that are made in U.S.A. They are comfortable, but could be as airy as my other 3.

I have a hard time finding a good shoe. I am a big guy and tend to underpronate. I also have medical conditions that cause pain in my ankles if my shoe doesn't correct the underpronation. Most shoes, for me, tend to collapse on the lateral side. The sole of these is sturdy and doesn't collapse. The rollbar prevents either under or over pronation. They have great cushion to prevent fatigue, without being "smooshy" like some other cushioned shoes that use memory foam. The removable insoles allow use of Superfoot or other orthotics or inserts. Also, they look great. The leather is supportive and substantial without the squeeks you sometimes get from leather uppers. They have a rounded, wide toe box that looks good and doesn't pinch on wider feet. I will buy these until they quit making them, which I hope is far into the future. I have them in both brown and black and love them both!

I was very happy to find a 6E width in a size 7 men's shoe. Most only go down to an 8. I just wish they came in a size 6 since they are still a little too long for my foot and the heel is a little sloppy. I am a woman with very wide feet and short toes, so I need a wide roomy toe box like these have. Women's shoes are way too narrow for my feet. I initially tried a size 8 and they were way too long. I was glad to see that the 6E width remained true even in a smaller size. I like the lower heel height which provides for a more natural walking gait. The 928 style that I have been wearing has a higher heel and tends to put more pressure on the forefoot. I will have to break these in gradually since my calf muscles are shortened from wearing the 928s and similar styles. I have ordered another pair in black and am hoping to purchase another white size 7 6E when it is in stock again. The shoelaces are a little too short since I have to use the extra holes to try to snug the heel up. I like the fact that the side rear of the shoe is lower so it doesn't hit my ankle bones like the 928s do.
