I purchased an XL Goorin Brothers Low Country pork pie and, while it's a great looking, quality hat, I had to return it because the 1 1/4 inch brim and shallow crown were just too small for me. As far as an XL fit though, it was true to size. If "smaller" is your style, I'd definitely recommend it.
