We should have read the description better: these shoes do not tie. The laces are more like elastic laces that you slip your foot into. We have these same New Balance shoes now in the same exact color but with ties and we thought we were buying those again. We prefer tie shoes because they stay on better when running. Other shoppers may prefer this slip-on version so I wanted to let people know that these are slip-ons.

Several things -- these do not tie like traditional sneakers. They are slip ons. The colors though, are gorgeous in person! My daughter loved them. We received yesterday and she wore them to school today. The elastic laces didn't even make it a full day before one shoe snapped. So I cut the other laces out and replaced them with regular tie laces (which I did not enjoy doing considering we have had them less than 24 hours). Other than the laces issue, my kiddo loves her new shoes.

Purchased for my daughter. Elastic laces were not tight enough and her heel kept slipping out. We had to return the shoes even though she loved the color and thought the rest of the fit was comfortable.

Comes with non-adjustable elastic laces as mentioned in other reviews. In theory, can be replaced. Bought for my daughter, but they are way too big. They fit my feet and I generally wear a size 7 women's in athletic footwear. I have a wide foot and generally find new balance shoes unbearable, but I can wear these.

My 11yr old daughter who has normal to slightly wide feet said these shoes didn’t tighten enough at the top and would fall off if she was doing real sports in PE. She liked the style and lightness of the shoe but too loose at the top do we are returning. Cool idea with the elastic laces if they fit just right for you.

These are actually slip on shoes, the laces are decorative. When they were put on the heel of the foot slipped in and out of the back of the shoe.

These shoes are stiff, have no padding in the footbed and slip off the heel when walking.

These shoes have weird fake laces that can't be tied/tightened. Didn't realize when ordering. Returning.

These sneakers are deceptive, the laces are not real laces, you can't tie them so the shoes slip off if you need a tighter fit

My daughter loved the color so we ordered as back to school sneakers, but didn't realize they do not tie. It is permanent elastic which makes they have way to much give, she could walk right out of them. They are not tight enough for the size of a child's foot.

Nice sneaker, but I think it's on sale b/c of the issue others wrote about. it doesn't stay on my daughter's foot b/c the laces can't be tightened. She has a medium to narrow foot so this won't work.

These shoes don't have adjustable laces - this is not good for children, and the description does not mention that! Returning for something more practical for a 6 year old!

BEWARE!! I am really annoyed. It seems that "elastic lace closure" means that the laces are FAKE and these things are actually slip-ons! The would be no good for sports like basketball that need a more secure shoe.

The shoes are super cute but the elastic bands aren’t attached to the tongue of the shoe so the tongue just slides around. I did some surgery on them since my daughter loved the style...

I should have read the reviews. Didn't realize these shoes don't have lace ties. I am an adult with size 4 feet--found these shoes not tight enough where the ties should be. Had to return them. Description should make this clearer, given the amount of people who are unhappily surprised.
