This is the hiking shoe I chose after trying on 12 pairs. I have a wide foot and hiking-style shoes/ boots often make my foot numb or tingly. I relaced these to be open across the bridge of the foot and used the tongue loop to create tension so I could cinch them down tighter at the top around the ankle. These also have the lowest heel of any approach/ hiking boot I tried. I HATE the thick heels. This one skips that and puts you closer the ground. The insole is still very supportive and something about the way it is built feels like it helps support the ankle (it was more difficult for me to roll my ankle in these than in other low shoes).

Based on other reviews, I bought a size 7 and I typically wear a 7.5. The 7 fit perfectly. I have a pretty pronounced bunion and these shoes have a roomy enough toe box to accommodate my weird foot. I wore them the first time for a 10-hour shift where I stand up all day and had zero rubbing or friction, which is a miracle. I bought them for an upcoming Europe trip for their sturdiness and Gore-tex waterproof material. I bought the grey with turquoise laces and they are pretty decent looking--not too "athletic" looking.

I've been buying Asolo's for years for their great soles and close, light and comfortable fit. I live near rocky terrain and go running/walking my dog, so I need a shoe that is light, water resistant and most importantly that grips to all manner of terrain well. I like the stickiness of their shoes. I like arch support, so I swap out their insole and replace it with an orthopedic one, and I'm good to go!

Despite all that fancy lacing, the stiff shoe bed and lack of extra lacing hole at top of shoe meant my heel slipped excessively.

I could not believe how off the sizing was on this shoe.. I double-checked to make sure that this was a shoe made for women. (It was). I was looking forward to this shoe because I could "custom" lace from ankle to toes. These were so wide that I could pull the 2 sides together. So after a few wearings and the natural stretching that leather undergoes these would be donated to the homeless shelter. I was very disappointed, and the shoes were returned

I have a difficult time finding shoes that are comfortable; I have a bunion and need a wide toe box. The Nucleon GV is very comfortable for urban walking and light hiking. I haven't worn it in wet conditions yet, so can't address the water repellency. So far, I'm delighted with this shoe.

I tried many brands and sizes and found this shoe perfect. It is comfortable and has the right amount of support. I wore them all day the very first day I got them. Normally I wear an 8, but the 7.5 were perfect.

I have a wide foot. Although this shoe does not come in wide, several reviewers said it runs wider than the usual medium. I took the chance. I almost kept the shoe, thinking the width was adequate, but after wearing the shoes for about a half hour around the house, my feet were starting to complain. I also noticed that the toe area lacked height and the shoe was a bit snug around the ankles. The ankle problem was remedied by re-lacing the very top holes so the laces came through on the outside of the hole rather than the underside. I liked the quality and lightness of this shoe, but I settled on a different waterproof shoe (my main reason for considering this one) which is not available at Zappos -- by Aravon.

What a beautifully made, European flavored shoe! But, it just wasn't enough "umpff" for my feet. They are rather thin in the insole/outsole and didn't have any arch contact for my higher arches. They were actually wide enough, though, for my wide feet, even tho only Medium widths are offered.

I have high-volume sensitive feet and have difficulty finding comfortable shoes. These shoes are WONDERFUL. They are incredibly comfortable and don't need any break-in period. They are very well made and are made out of quality materials. I love them.

Great shoes. The 7.5 fits like an 8. Order 1/2 size down.

Great color - nice to find womens' shoes in an interesting yet grown-up color. They fit great and feel really well made - super comfortable, roomy in the toe box, feel very stable.

Finally! I have tried on soooo many hiking shoes to try to find a durable but not bulky, water resistant, and comfortable shoe, and this one is perfect. I normally wear a 9.5 in running/hiking shoes, but this was a bit bigger in the toebox, so I exchanged for the 9 and it's great. The laces are very skinny, so I'm hoping they hold up over time? But otherwise I have nothing negative to say about it at this point. And, as always, I am so thankful for Zappos's amazingly fast shipping, easy exchanges, and excellent customer service.

I want everyone to know that Zappos has theeee best customer service on the planet. I do quite a bit of online shopping, and I dread having to contact Amazon, Ebay or some other outlet, but Zappos ... what a relief to get your problems solved immediately with such courteous staff.

I bought this to have as a second pair ..Ilove these for travel because I can walk around on cobblestone streets all day long, miles and miles, and have my feet feel just fine. I wear these on the plane and use them for everything from gym workouts to long walks to moderate hikes. Cannot recommend these more!

These shoes are a great fit - very comfortable and supportive. I wear orthotics and they fir perfectly in the shoe. I purchased my regular size and have no problem with fit. Really great shoes.

I LOVE asolo shoes and boots and have 4 pair. the soles do tend to wear out quickly, but they are super comfortable and are worth the price. the nucleon GV run a half size large, so I ordered accordingly and they fit well. this pair has less cushion under the toe area than my last pair, so I added a full inner sole to protect my feet from the pavement. the backs are lower than the previous model and tend to slip a bit, but part of that is because I added the inner sole. there is room for a custom orthotic if so desired. I like the waterproof quality of the uppers; my feet don't get wet from heavy dew or light rain. I have a very narrow foot and was able to tighten the laces for a good fit. Zappos is awesome! Free shipping both ways makes me more likely to try shoes without hassles.

I usually take an 8 - 8.5. Ordered the 8 because people said it runs big. It was too big. Returned it for the 7.5 and...it was too small! Sad they’re going back - they are the best looking hikers I’ve seen, good for hours of walking on cobblestones.

I returned them. I really wanted to like these shoes. But way too long and wide. Even though they are my size. I think I got too excited about the lime green color and cool look of them. I love asolo but these were not a winner.

Lower profile hiking shoe. I liked that it is waterproof and all but I am returning it. The shoe felt long on my foot. I'm generally a Euro 40. The footbed is stiff. What I did not like was the narrow shoe laces. I didn't feel like I could get a really good fit on the shoe. They get top points for the cool colors. Just didn't fit great out of the box and I don't believe in having to break a shoe in. I think they can make some improvements on this shoe to appeal to more individuals. I purchase a lot from Zappos and you cannot beat their fast and free shipping!! Seriously, you cannot beat that. I love Zappos. In the mean time I will continue to look for a waterproof hiking shoe.

Sharp looking, and they appear well made, but comfort is most important and these were not comfortable.
