Some of the reviews on here shock me. This a genuine leather shoe. Leather has grain and age marks, it shows wear, it will not be a perfect smooth canvas as this is just not the nature of true leather. Also, leather always starts out tight and stiff, but if you take the time to break it in, it will form to your foot and eventually be rather comfortable. With all of that being said, I do think that these run about a 1/2 size small, even after the breaking in process. Also, as many other people mentioned, Zappos color descriptions are TERRIBLE. "brown" is actually a taupe color (much like the picture for "dark gray")"taupe" is actually a cognac color (much like the picture for "brown") and canary is not nearly as bright as it shows in the picture (it's more like a muted mix between taupe and cognac). I know all of this because I went to my local Nordstrom just to get an idea before I actually ordered anything. Zappos tries to claim it is a difference in monitors and lighting, nope, they just matched them up wrong.

I bought these over two years ago and have loved them so much that I need to get my original pair resoled and am looking longingly at pictures of them in other colors. They are shockingly comfortable and look amazing.

Oh my god, Oh my god, Oh my god!!!!!!!!!!! These by far are the cutest pair of shoes I have ever had. I wear a 6.5 and decided to go the smaller route and ordered the 36, perfect! I picked the canary a soft golden yellow, will go with anything. I can wear these shoes all year round in texas. I want another pair so badly...thinking the grey which they don't have in my size. Maybe black.....i keep pulling up the shoe and staring at the page. Lord help me they are calling my name.

Received damaged love how fast Zappos delivers items but when you are expecting an item .. you don’t expect it worn or damaged.

I’m so unbelievably disappointed. I got these shoes from my husband as a birthday gift because I wouldn’t stop talking about them. These shoes look like they’ve been worn for several years. I cannot understand why Zappos would even think for one second that these were acceptable to send to a customer—especially when they cost $200!!! This must be a fluke considering they have such amazing reviews. There is no way that everyone else claims that shoes that look like a hobo has been wearing them for 100 years are worth 5 stars.

Favorite shoe and I have a lot of shoes! Returned the nude because they were very yellow for me. Got the brown and while they are lighter than the Zappos pic they are the perfect color! I’ve worn them with jeans, dress pants, white jeans. Perfect. So comfortable and they look cool! They are so soft on your feet!

LOVE. I ordered the brown, which is lighter than the pictures — it is about the color of the Natural Free People Mont Blanc (which I returned for this close-toed version since fall is near). I put them on and fell in love - the feel good and they look so good. Can’t wait to wear with my skinny and crop pants this fall!

Beautiful shoes! I got the taupe color. I’m normally an 8 or 8 1/2 depending on the shoe. I bought these in 8 1/2. Initially they felt tight but after a few wears they have stretched out nicely and have become very comfortable.

Having read the reviews, I sized down by 1/2 and they fit perfect. They are slightly loose across the arch (I have skinny feet!), but not enough to return and I’m afraid sizing down won’t fix that, yet will only jam my toes. As others have stated, the color of the brown is off. I couldn’t decide between Brown and Canary so I got both...and there really wasn’t much difference (see photo). The Brown definitely isn’t as “rich” looking as the pictures on Zappos and it blended with my skin tone a bit much, so I kept the Canary. These shoes are so cute with cropped skinny pants. Love them!

I have wide feet and thick ankles (such a winning combo, right??), and have been looking for a pair of closed toe shoes that I can wear in business casual settings that still pack some style. These are them. I almost didn't try them because some reviews I read online suggested they run narrow, but I don't find this to be true. I normally wear a 9 1/2 and the 41 fits perfectly. The leather is like butter- very comfy. Women cursed with cankles, the cutout helps elongate your legs and give the ankle a bit of definition. I bought these in canary and the color is beautiful and true to the photo.

Love these but the color “brown” is not accurate at all. They are very light, almost a nude/taupe

$200 shoes obviously worn previously what a disappointment. Where’s the quality control?

I’ve been eyeing these for over a year now, and I had to make the investment. They are so beautiful and stylish. I just wish they were a half size bigger. I always wear a size 10 and I own other Free People booties in a size 40 and they fit perfectly. These seem a tad small—I’m hoping the leather will stretch a little so they feel more comfortable. Also, I have wider feet, not anything too wide, but I was worried these might be too narrow, and they aren’t. Just feeling a little tight all around.

I loved the black so much that when they arrived I immediately went back and ordered the taupe as well. These shoes are such a fun mix of a flat and an ankle boot, with the convenience of a slip-on and the style of a bootie. They're very comfortable, the leather is supple and the ergonomics are such that the high heel cup doesn't rub or chafe at all around the Achilles and ankle bone (I was worried about that). The taupe is a little lighter than it seems from their photos - it's more like the brown color - but the leather is a nice quality and will continue to deepen with age and wear. Lovely shoe, a new favorite!

Awesome shoe! No discomfort! I'm usually in between a 7-7.5. 37 was perfect. They are so cute and comfortable! Can't wait to purchase again.

Inconsistent :( I wanted to love these, but they are all going back. From left to right: Brown, Brown, Taupe. I am always a size 10 in closed shoes, although I can get away with down to an 8 sometimes in sandals (I hate shoe overhang). In these, I tried 40.5 and 40. Oddly enough, the 40.5 slipped off my heel less, even though the 40 were smaller across the bridge of my foot. The two 40s felt inconsistent due to the manufacture. As you can see, the two browns are wildly different. I cannot keep them, because with my narrow heels I have experienced enough bloody heels for a lifetime. I might try the 39.5 (Zappos is great!), although I worry those would still slip on the heel and be too tight in the bridge. Overall, I am a bit exhausted by the inconsistency. Sad, because I love the style, and thought these could be my spring/fall go to shoes.

I absolutely LOVE these shoes and have wanted them since I saw someone in Santa Monica wearing a pair of blue Royales. The leather is soft, with slight distressing, and they’re stunning & flattering. But they’re definitely pointed, & I knew my toes would hate me after an hour. (I wear size 9.5M or 10M and I ordered size 40.5.) Also, the brown pair was more of a taupe/light brown with yellow undertones — just not my fav. Had these shoes been available in gray a month ago, I would have exchanged the brown pair for gray in size 41. Instead, I returned the brown pair, decided to wait for new colors in the Royale, and ordered the Free People Mont Blanc — a perfect shoe for Florida!

These are beautiful and well made. I wear 8.5 and ordered 39. They were snug, but would stretch to fit nicely. I was disappointed with the color. I ordered brown, but the color online was very different from what I received and in the end, I wasn't in love with the color. They are more of a lighter pale brown. So I am returning them.

I love the style of this shoe. The leather is soft and beautiful. The toe box is a bit tight but has stretched with wear. Pretty comfortable. There is little to no arch support so I cannot wear for a lot of walking because I over pronate. Overall I am very pleased with the purchase. Can wear casually and for work.

Love these so much I am coming back to buy them in black. I have had these for almost two years, still look great and so comfy.

I LOVE these shoes. I was eyeing them for a long time, but struggled with the price. I'm so glad I finally caved in and bought them. I read through reviews and struggled with what size to order. I ended up ordering 5 pair in different colors and sizes to make sure I selected the pair that I would get the most use out of. I wear a 6 1/2 and my feet are on the wider side. It is very difficult to find flats that I find comfortable. I kept the 36.5 in Whiskey Taupe. The color is gorgeous! I also purchased the Dark Grey from another store. The 36.5 in Whiskey Taupe felt a little tight compared to the 37 in Dark Grey (fit PERFECT), however the 37 in WT were HUGE. If anyone is between sizes, I would recommend ordering a couple pair to compare side by size, since Zappos is AWESOME and offers free returns. (I was blown away with how quickly my return was processed! EXCELLENT CUSTOMER SERVICE!) I was shocked with how comfortable to Dark Grey felt out of the box. The Whisky Taupe will take a few wears to break in, but I can tell they will be just as comfortable. In addition to Whiskey Taupe and Dark Grey, ordered these in Brown and Cocoa. The Brown is very light and I felt like it was too close to my skin tone. The Cocoa is a very soft suede that I think would be very easy to break in. I was close to keeping them, but decided I'd get more wear out of the leather in Whiskey Taupe.

I looooove these flats so much! They're so chic and elegantly understated. I did get a blister on my heel after walking in these for 30 min but they're too gorgeous to return.

I love these shoes. Definitely an investment but they are so comfortable and cute! I normally wear a 9M and I ordered the 39.5. They fit perfectly!! Thank you Zappos for your outstanding customer service!!!
