This jacket is perfect for school and since my son doesn't want to wear a hat (direct quote - "I don't want them to pull the wool over my eyes."), the hood is great for the colder days. Very lightweight and compacts easily into a backpack. Size L (14-16) if good for a 5'2", 95 lb kid.

The jacket is exactly what we were looking for! Great coat for Minnesota and those years when coats seem to become ‘optional’ in a child’s mind.

My 12 year old grandson loves this jacket. Its just what he wanted....light weight and not bulky, easily fits in his backpack when needed, without sacrificing warmth. The quality is excellent with a deep inside pocket, as well as zippers on outer pockets to keep electronics, gloves, etc. safe and secure. Added length in the back and a well designed hood help make this the perfect choice......seriously!

Living in Austin, TX, we don't have to worry about extreme cold winters and rarely gets below freezing, but it can get cold. My son would rarely wear a large, bulky winter coat, so this was a perfect light and thin, but still very warm coat that he can easily shove in his backpack. My son is an athletic 8 year old who will be 9 in about 3 months. He is about 55" tall and 66 pounds. We were torn between sizes, so ordered both the Medium (10-12 Big Kids) and the Large (14-16 Big Kids). The Medium fits right now, but it likely won't fit him next year, so we went with the Large. It is big on him (especially since this is meant to be a little fitted), but we don't have much use for winter coats and really wanted it to last a few years.

Great fit, size & color.

I bought this item for my son, he is 11. He does not like wearing bulky coats, but I wanted something warm, and this was what I chose. I feel that it is about what we needed. I wouldn’t want to be outside in this coat if it were 20 degrees or less for any length of time, but we don’t have many of those kind of days in our state.

I was looked I got for a thin puffer for my son and this was exactly what we were looking for. It is super soft and comfy and not bulky at all. Fit was great. Not crunchy or stiff at all.

Great light weight jacket with incredible warmth. Isn’t bulky and can be packed into a backpack easily. My son loves it.

Great style and love the red. Runs big. I ordered an XXS for my 4.5 year old boy who is tall. I bet he can wear it for two years.

Love this jacket, but it wasn’t what I was looking for. Bought it for my 7 year old boy as a winter coat, but I was worried it wasn’t really intended for playing in the snow and being outside for long periods. Still, I think this would have worked well as an everyday ultralight winter jacket. Opted instead for another North Face coat that will keep him cozy!

Purchased for my 12 year old. The size 15/16 was perfect, the sleeve length is generous and the styling is great. He is very excited about his new jacket! Thanks to Zappos for offering it at a great price!

You just can't beat a North Face coat. This jacket is warm enough for my little guy, but isn't bulky, which is perfect for a family on the go - strapping a kid in and out of a car seat with a big coat on is just plain annoying for everyone involved.

This is a great light weight down coat for under car seats. I only wish it came in more colors.
