I bought this at the last minute before a trip to Thailand. I have a heavy backpack that we usually carry, but wanted something light to carry on this trip. The Herschel daypack fit the bill. It's very lightweight and held everything I toted around each day--umbrella, light rain jacket, camera, etc. I love that it folds into a little carrying case when not in use. One thing--the picture is deceptive. There's no structure to this daypack, so there's no way it sits upright like in the pic unless you stuff a blanket or something in it. I'm happy with this purchase.

Great bag! Light as a feather yet holds a whole bag of groceries. I live in a city and walk or bike everywhere and needed something light and durable. This one did the trick. I guess it's supposed to be a temporary bag but I think it's perfect for daily use.

Nice nifty little thing. I bought it for a trip to Taiwan, and it's a great size for running about town. Mind you, it's not going to hold a ton of books, but for shopping and walking around, it doesn't get much better. Big plus that it folds up on itself easily.

These things are amazing. This is my second packable daypack from Herschel. While they won't carry lots of heavy weight for ages (the seams will begin to pull apart eventually), the lightness and convenience of them cannot be beat. I hope they never stop making them!

Packable it is NOT. It's partially my fault because this particular color (hydrangea) did not show a picture that this daypack was able to fit into its own internal pocket (which it does not have), so I'm unhappy with this purchase. Don't lump it into the "packable daypack" category since that's the case.

Brilliant! This backpack is super lightweight. I'm storing it in my suitcase for that dreaded moment when my suitcase is overweight and the airline says "please remove 5 lbs" and I'm trying to stuff it all in my purse. The backpack itself is well designed and cute... a fully functional backpack!

I just got my day pack a few days ago and it is adorable! I can tell by the stitching it is of good quality. I purchased this backpack for use at a 3 day rock festival. It is light, and I also like the straps being wider. In previous years I used drawstring bags, and after awhile, they began to dig into my shoulders. I am excited to pack this bag up for the big event! Highly recommend it!

Cool concept but I didn't like the fact that the metal zippers make noise when you walk around with the backpack. Too much clanking around. I returned it for just that reason alone.

This is a good bag. It's affordable and lightweight. When I first received the black version, I was hesitant because it lacked structure and the material seemed very thin. But I used it for a city trip and i liked it very much. Contrary to my worry, it is quite sturdy and has a lot of space inside, which makes up for the lack of structure. Even, if the bag is only half full, it will drape nicely. I would recommend it for anybody, who's looking for a no fuss lightweight backpack to hold your essentials, like phone, keys, wallet, make up, notebooks, clothes etc. But I would not recommend it as a school/heavy textbook backpack. You would be better off getting a structured one with shoulder strap support.

Very thin material and I wanted one for my daily walk to put my water bottles, car key & phone, so this will be good. I think this is not suitable for kids school bag for lots of books. It goes into the little pouch when not being used, so this is very important to them to be organized in trips or at home for my closet.

I love this packable backpack. I loaded it down w souvenirs at The Wizard World of Harry Potter and have used it multiple times while site-seeing. There's no padding in the straps, so you'll feel it in your shoulders if you add five chocolate frogs, two wands, two gilly waters, and two pumpkin juices (but not so much if your just toting purse essentials, jacket, and water bottle). Additionally, I've never had any trouble getting it folded into the pack pouch.

I bought this for light day hiking in the Southwest, where the main challenge is frequent temperature changes and you need to have a sweater, a bottle of water and a camera for the fantastic scenery. This is perfect because it is almost weightless and takes up no room at all when folded up. I have since bought several more to keep on hand for friends and family when they come to visit. It would not be suitable for a longer hike or for packing boots because it has no structure at all, no frame etc. - but I did not want those things as they add weight and hurt my shoulders.

This review is the "SILVER REFLECTIVE / BLACK REFLECTIVE" color. This is a comfortable bag for carrying around a few pounds (small laptop and a few notebooks) but when I loaded it up completely, it seems the shoulder straps were really tugging on the seams of the bag. The zippers are plastic and smooth-sliding. The attached storage pouch is inside the bag and can be used as an internal pocket for items, but because the opening faces the wrong way it's hard to get things in and out while the bag is upright and/or full. The silver part of the bag is very reflective. The black part is less so. The fabric is reflective due to a thick coating of the reflective paint (which is usually just a small logo on sports clothing or shoes), which will will "nick" so you have to baby the bag a little bit. Also, sunblock and lotion-ed hands will leave ashy white marks on the bag not unlike deodorant marks on a dark shirt. Also due to the reflective coating, I think this particular color of bag clocks in at heavier than the advertised 6 oz, and is very stiff, which means it takes longer to fold the bag back into its attached storage pouch. Also, this may or may not matter to you but the zipper pulls hit each other and jingle while walking.

This is a surprisingly comfortable backpack. I needed a compact day pack to pack in my larger traveling backpack, and this bag was perfect. Comfortable enough for a day hike, good looking enough for the city, packs very small, is even somewhat water resistant due to the fabric coating. And the seams are taped on the interior with a pink and white stripped fabric, a nice touch. I did have a minor issue with the stitching finishing the end of one of the straps coming undone. Otherwise, this is a great bag.

Love love love this backpack! I'm a fan of the classic Herschel shape. Bought this originally to be a gym bag because I have bad shoulders and can't be bothered to carry the weight of the bag itself. But this bag was also a lifesaver during a week-long trip where it folded in neatly inside a larger travel backpack. The busy floral print is ideal for going with any kind of outfit, including formals (see photo). And the discount didn't hurt, either. One of my best recent purchases.

It’s a great little pack, it folds up small when you don’t need it. The materials are not the best, but it’s a light weight day pack. It should last a long time as long as you don’t overload it with heavy items. This is more for traveling light or for taking to festivals. I would not recommend this as an everyday carry type of bag.

This backpack exceeded my expectations. Solid construction, sturdy adjustable straps, roomy, and very lightweight. The Raven Crosshatch color is more attractive in person than in the picture and is appropriate for both a man and a woman. I used the backpack during site seeing to hold water bottles, hats, etc. Going forward I will take it with me whenever I travel. Although it fits into an attached pocket, I was unable to fold it back into the pocket.

Review for Zappos VIP Points(What's this?)
I just bought my third and fourth packable daypacks. Being small and lightweight, one got misplaced--so, beware of that! The fabric is so lightweight, it made an excellent swim gear bag for my daughter at day camp last year, so we replaced that. The fourth is for her music for music lessons--the blue fabric is a little heavier than the coral, so it will be suitable for the music book/folder. The first bag is chock-full of all the toiletries we take on trips. I keep it packed year-round. The weight strains the seams a little, but it's carrying heavy stuff like three-to-four full size shampoo/conditioner bottles, a full-size toothpaste tube or two and an entire pharmacy's worth of goods. It's been with us for plenty of trips and has never failed me. It's so lightweight and thin that it doesn't add bulk to my luggage, just does its job of holding things together valiantly. The straps are narrow and unpadded, so don't carry heavy loads on your shoulders for a long time. Regardless, it's a very useful bag to have in your collection!

Great bag! I use it daily for work and have taken it on trips as well; even used it while at Disney World. It is super light and has plenty of room to carry what you need. Glad I made this purchase!
