I own a previous version of the same Herschel Strand, I saw that my tote was getting old and a newer model of the Strand was available so I decided to buy the new model, BIG MISTAKE. Aside from the extra pockets in front (3 on the new one compared to 1 on the old model) and the double re-enforced, the new Strand model does NOT hold as much as the Strand. If you're planning to use the new Strand for weekend get-aways, gym bag, groceries, or even for travel like me, you're better off getting something else. Even though it says its the same capacity as the old Strand (28L), the new Strand does not expand like the old Strand. If you look at the pictures, you'll see the mouth doesn't open as much, even the bottom is not as wide. At this rate, I rather keep my old Strand model and return the new one. Style: 5 Stars for the innovative new front pockets Comfort: 2 Stars because the double straps are not comfortable for a shoulder carry like the old model Overall: Because it is definitely not 28L and must less useful

I was looking for a weekender bag that was smaller than my MK duffel and bigger than my biggest handbag. This fit the bill for me. I like the nylon material outside (hoping it will last many trips) and the cute stripped liner (got the red one). It is very roomy for its size. I do wish that there was an inside zip pocket and a cross body strap (for easier lugging around the city). All in all, it's a good weekender bag for me: sturdy, roomy, and cute.

This bag is the PERFECT size for a weekend getaway! And to be honest, my favorite Herschel bag yet. I highly recommend if you love a functional bag with a simple sense of style.

I bought this bag thinking it would be more of a tote for school. However, it is much too big and the handles much too short for that. That being said, it is a great weekend bag. I went for a long weekend trip and all of my stuff fit perfectly. It is very well-made and sturdy, and the red color is fabulous!

I read a couple reviews about poor quality of the Herschel zippers on their bags. For some reason, I was optimistic and ignored those reviews and purchased this bag. Unfortunately, the first day I used this bag to travel, I noticed one side of the zipper was getting stuck on the zipper teeth and then it would create that off line issue where the zipper trail is open on both ends. I finally realigned the zipper and then the zipper actually broke off. I wasn't pulling it hard but the plastic zipper was so cheap that it just snapped off. Very disappointing! The bag size and style is lovely but the zippers are really cheap. I should have listened to the other reviewer's truths!!

It looks just like the first photo. Its very nice and I really like it because the bag is a bit bigger than a tote. I wanted to find a bag that is bigger than tote and more durable for commutes and college. It will fit a 15in laptop nicely and more. Its comfortable and the straps are pretty thick so that's nice.

I use this as an overnight/weekend bag and i love it cuz i love the brand and it's styles. I wish there was a bigger version but i love it

This is the perfect overnight bag! I live in the city and I go back and forth between NY and NJ to spend the night at my boyfriend's a few times a week. I don't mind that this doesn't have a shoulder strap because the straps are long enough to fit over my shoulder without feeling heavy. The bag is deep and roomy. Very impressed! The quality is also very sturdy so I know this will last me for awhile :)

Great durable bag. Bought this 6 yrs ago according to order history! It has lasted me a long time. Perfect weekend bag. I wish it had a small pocket inside but I’ve learned to work around that.

I love this bag although its a little smaller than I imagined its for weekend travels. Plus its a great addition to my other Herschel products.

Strand in Acid Wash The exterior surface of the bag is very sturdy, durable heavy woven polyester and nylon. It's an ideal everyday bag! The look of this bag is Unisex, casual, and a good pop of color and style with any of your wardrobe. The bag has a roomy interior and has a smooth surface with the classic herschel print lining. The bag handle is long enough to use on your shoulder, however, the handle is not flat nor padded and it would be very uncomfortable to wear if your bag is overstuffed and/or heavy.

I love this bag but it is over-sized and the handles/straps are too stiff. I do like that you can zip the bag shut so for example nothing will fall out if you need to stick this bag under the seat on an airplane but overall I felt it was too large for me. I am 5'4.

I got it as my gym bag. It looks neat and stylish, it is quite roomy. It is comfortable to carry and I like that is somewhat expandable - I think it would be great as a cabin bag during air travel. I took off one star because it has no pockets inside and at least one side pocket would be lovely, but mainly because the zipper feels cheap - they could have put in a better quality one. Overall I am happy with my purchase.

Used this bag as my carry-on on a recent trip. Fit nicely under the seat. A shoulder strap would be nice, but did ok without one. Very roomy.

Was a little disappointed that this wasn't canvas, but the color is so pretty that I kept it anyway. It's a great weekender-sized bag.

This bag is super cute and the perfect size for weekend trips. However, I need to be careful not to put too much in there because the straps don't have much padding, making it uncomfortable to carry on my shoulder.
