I bought these to replace pair of Reef flip-flops that I have loved wearing for the last five years or so. I was disappointed to discover that these are not only heavier than my old shoes (isn’t the point of flip-flops that you hardly feel like you are wearing shoes at all?), but they are also significantly smaller. Just look at my pic!

I have been Reef loyal for two decades. Recently my black ginger flip flops wore out after nine years of use, and when I ordered a replacement they were heavy (new sole design)- too heavy to be comfortable. Despite being a 9 they felt like an 8- when I held them up to my other reefs they are clearly smaller. Not sure if Reef changed owners but not really the same shoe.

I am a size 7 -- but the 7 was too small (short in length and tight in straps), so I had to reorder a size 8. The size 8 fits -- order ONE SIZE UP!

One pair was a free replacement. Recently I’ve had to replace as the sole either separates or the strap breaks. The other pair I bought because they were on sale and I like to have a spare. However! I received 2 very different pair of Reefs, which leads me to think one of them was a knockoff (the bottom pair which was made in China had weird white powder all over it). I’ve worn Reefs for many years and NEVER have I seen the logo on the top picture (made in Vietnam). Pretty sure I’m not buying Reefs anymore unless it’s directly from Reefs.

BUY ONE SIZE UP!!!! SERIOUSLY! LOOK AT MY PICTURES!! Since this is the second pair of these I ordered, I want to tell you guys that YES, YOU NEED TO ORDER A SIZE UP. I have consistently worn a size 9 in reef flipflops for years. When I first ordered this I didn't think to read the reviews because I own 3 or 4 pair of Reefs. But the run small. Almost like they mislabeled the sizes and then had to stick with it to save face. Even though the size issue needs to be fixed, they are still great. I love Reef because they have such great arch support. There is no other flipflop that is that comfortable but still looks like a normal, simple flipflop. And I have no problem ordering a size up, but I do suggest the company fix this. Especially if most of the customers are inconvenienced. I now have this extra pair of flipflops that I can't wear and I paid $30+ for. I couldn't return them because I would have had to pay for the shipping and I found that to be extremely inconvenient. One thing I didn't enjoy is having the "break them in". Because they are a tad stiffer than the thinner Gingers and the material of the straps are nylon instead of the other material, they kind of rub between and on top of my toes a bit. Usually when it is hot as all heck out side and i have a tad of the swollen feets. But they eventually get there. Good luck!!! I hope Reef brings back the thinner Gingers. They were amazing and I have had 6 pairs of them. Now I am stalking the internet to find any of the last pairs left.

I normally wear a size 9.5 and ordered the size 10 .. they fit but my feet are right to the edge. I’m keeping them and hoping that they’ll start to mold to my feet more, and flatten out a bit, like my previous pair (from about 12 years ago!). IDK why Reef has their sizing so off on these, it’s dumb. But the Reef Gingers have 2 features I love which is why I came back for the second pair: 1) the piece that goes between your toes is not made of rubber, it’s some kind of fabric, so I don’t get those nasty blisters like I do from rubber or plastic 2) the little arch support makes them even more comfortable to walk in on longer walks.

Reef sandals, Ginger style, has been a perennial favorite of mine because of their sexy skinny straps, slender profile and nice arch support. I wear them 24/7 nine months of the year, so they do need to be replaced after each season. One thing I've noticed that I do not like is that the bottom of the sole does not give much traction on slick floors such as bare wood floors, concrete floors, linoleum, etc. And if there's a speck of water on the floor I guarantee you will take a scary slide. I've had too many close calls now to feel safe wearing these sandals anymore. Maybe my cobbler can add something more grippy to the sole. Oh and btw I have a pair each of older Flo Jo's and Puma flip flops, and their soles are equally slippery. I figured perhaps a brand new pair of sandals would have more grip, but alas, no.

I love this flip flop...check that, I LOVED this flip flop. Bought the 'old' pair last summer, and I wore them all summer and most of this summer. Good arch support, the footbed does not get slippery, they looked cute with everything. Unfortunately, I wear an 11, the largest size and the "new" pair that just came is so much smaller!!! I could not get my foot under the straps, and it is much shorter and narrower than my 'old' pair. I am so disappointed! So my overall score, for this 'new' sandal, is low, but I know if it was the same size as the "old" sandal, it would be comfortable and stylish. I am so disappointed!!

I only buy Reef Ginger. I’ve been wearing these for decades. Have a lot of different colors. They have good arch support so I can wear them all day and my feet feel fine. Which they made more colors. I won’t buy any other flip flops because I’m always disappointed and end up not wearing them. I don’t even buy other Reef styles. Has to be Ginger.

I wanted to love these. This is my kind of design. However, it seems so small and narrow. I wear a size 8 in shoes, bought this a size up as a 9, but yet my feet sort of overhang the side and it looks like I have very fat feet when in these! Well, guess I have to return them.

Disappointed to find the images of this item don’t match the shipped product. The product images show the old Ginger style, stitching on the strap is a roundish flower type design which is what I thought I ordered. What came is the new style, stitched arrow design and the soles are not the same. The size seems fine but the only thing that’s the same is the name and color, otherwise it’s a different sandal than what the images are and what is shipped.

I have worn these sandals for 30 years, at least, and they are the best sandals ever. I wear them year round until they fall apart, which is usually after a year or so. I have colors that no longer exist, and I wish they would bring some other colors back.

I agree with so many others that the new reefs are heavier and smaller than they used to be. The difference in weight isn’t noticeable once they’re on but I’m so glad I ordered a size bigger. I’ve had a pair of ginger reefs for probably 15 years and after my sister’s dog chewed up the strap it was finally time to replace them. I ordered the 10 and the footbed is the same length and width as my original 9. I normally wear a 9.5, sometimes 10 in other shoes so maybe reef was just bringing these to industry standard? I like the the peach strap more than I thought I would and they’re super comfortable. Overall I’m happy with my new reefs!

I am in my 40s now and these are still my go to flip flop! I wish they had more colors with the black bottom and different color straps. I have a pink and turquoise I would love to replace (20yrs and counting)

I bought white gingers 8 years ago to wear with a sundress and was almost shocked at how comfortable these flip flops were. The arch support, which is a must for my feet was so good I could wear them all day without my feet hurting. I quickly added a black pair to complete my wardrobe for summer. As they have become worn I was soo excited when you offered white again and replaced them both this year!!

Love these, classic style, very comfy, last forever. But they definitely do run small. Order one size larger than your normal shoe size for sure!

Yep, they are as great as everyone says they are. I bought these based (1) on reviews and (2) because i had a smilier pair of Reefs a decade ago that were loved and lost. I don't know why I didn't buy these sooner. I may die in them. Love!

I bought these to replace my old ginger sandals, I had them for about 7 years and finally the straps gave up. I ordered my normal size 7 and was too small so I exchanged them for an 8 and the soles were fine but the straps were to loose for my feet so I'm planning on returning them for good and find another brand. So sad they changed them. Please bring back the old ones!!!.

I have always bought the Reef Ginger style sandals for the past 20 years, or longer. My last pair finally wore out so I purchased a new pair about a year ago. Within 6 months the strap came loose and they were done. I typically wear my sandals everyday, and they last for 2-3 years until my toe starts to touch the floor. I don't mind that the new style is a little thicker, and a little more narrow than the old style, but what I don't like is that they fell apart after 6 months and the the tread on the bottom is non existent. The older style had the Reef logo, the new style has this strange, useless wave, pattern that has actually made me slip on several surfaces. I refuse to purchase another pair of reefs until they go back to the old style with real grip on the bottom. Unfortunately this company has lost a lifetime customer...unless they make some changes.

I love these flip flops and have purchased them several times. The cloth straps are comfortable. The soles have the right amount of cushion.

The comfort was great but it runs a little small. My heel comes all the way to the edge.

I have tried many pairs of thongs. This is by far the best ever. It gives my toes a break from working so hard to keep the thongs on. Love them!
