The original Teva Toachi was the most comfortable shoe ever. Soft, cushioning material held the foot in place, and the sole was like magic; each step was like walking on a cloud. But, contrary to Teva's claim that the new Toachi is "an across the board improvement" over the original, the new Toachi does not cushion the foot the way the original did, either in the upper or the sole. It's just another not-so-comfy shoe. It seems like they were trying to save money on materials or something. Please please, Teva, bring back the original!

I have worn Tevas for many many years, going through probably close to 10 pair in my lifetime. In all but one other case I have always gotten the same size (13 US). With the Toachi 2 I ordered the 13 which didn't fit. I then ordered the 14 which still didn't fit. This is the strangest pair of Tevas I've ever seen. I really liked the clip entry. It provided rapid entry and exit while maintaining precise fit adjustment. I also really like the draining sole as I am regularly in an out of water.

Wore these sandals on one moderate 10 mile out and back hike along a stream. It might be more appropriate to describe the hike as a nature walk with some walking in and across the waters. Within the first hour, the back of the shoe was chafing and causing blisters on the backs of my feet. About half way through the hike, the straps across the toes were causing blisters on both sides of my feet where the straps came into contact with my skin. Also, the arch support which felt nice while wearing casually started to rub into my arch so much that I had huge blisters there as well. By the end of my hike I had at least half a dozen blisters on each foot and my feet were bloody. I had stopped several times to apply bandaids and moleskin however their help was minimal as they could not cover my entire foot. I would need complete moleskin socks to stop the shoes from chafing. Furthermore, the shoes are supposed to be very gripping in the water, yet it appeared they had minimal grip as I slipped quite a few times including a rather bad fall that resulted in injury. Additionally, I want to say that all of the little crevices on the shoes were so filled with sand grains from the sand along the stream that I had to constantly stop to pick them out otherwise they too would start to cause blisters. Finally, at the conclusion of the hike, the buckle closure on the left shoe was stuck closed and there were many small scrapes in the "shock pad" rubber making the shoes look as if they were worn for months, I am not an expert at hiking through wet areas, but I have above average experience in terms of hiking desert areas and these shoes would never make it through an actual moderate to difficult hike. I could not imagine wearing these shoes at the beach either as all the sand would probably get lodged in the shoes causing massive discomfort. I am really disappointed as I have heard so much for years about how Teva makes the most reliable and comfortable hiking and water sandals. Sure, these are cute and I got many compliments on how they looked before the hike, but that does not make up for the amount of pain I am in now. So I would recommend these shoes only to someone who works a desk job and would almost never be walking in them.

I purchased the original model back in 2008. Best sandal I have ever had. I am really disappointed with the Toachi 2. The heel pad and the straps are made of cheaper materials, yet the price is still the same. My suggestion for Teva is to offer two versions of the product (an upper model and a less expensive model) and allow the customers a choice. Too bad I did not stock up on a few pairs before the old ones were discontinued.

It would be the best shoe in the world IF Teva would bring the toe bumper back to it. I hiked for 2 weeks in the Smoky Mountains with my Toachi (with toe bumper) sandals. Not a blister, sore foot, ache, pain, just pure comfort. Bring back the toe bumper and I would buy a billion of them!!!!!!

I had to return them after several near-slip-and-falls on smooth concrete surfaces. Thin soles made them lightweight -- a good thing -- but also provided less arch and toe support. I found better support in the original Terra Fi.

I returned my Tevas (Toachi 2) because I felt the "improved" version was uncomfortable. The straps chafed and the "improved" heel was very uncomfortable. My husband glued my old Tevas back together (heels were coming off) with glue he uses to make golf clubs. I'm hopeful that I will have many more years with my old but fixed Tevas. My original pair of Toachi Tevas have been great until the heels started to come apart. When the new pair did not meet my expectations for comfort, I decided to let my husband try to glue them back with golf club glue, rather them send them back. I had purchased the original pair from a store in North Carolina several years ago. That pair, now back on my feet, was worth of a gold star until the heels came apart. Hopefully the glue job will work! Redo the Toachi 2 Tevas so they are more like the older version; then you might have ones I would like to try again.

You made big changes over the 2009 Teva Toachi sandal. What I like is the open space in the straps making them more adjustable. What I don't like is you made some changes in the position of the straps making them more like your original Teva sandal which I found to be uncomfortable. The sandal feels narrower than the previous year also not as true to size. Why did you change such a perfect sandal, the best I have ever worn? I would not buy these again and now have to start a new search for the perfect sandal.

The sole of the shoe feels very nice under foot. However, the strap that holds the front of the sandal to your foot has a ring that sits on top of the knuckle on my big toe. It digs in without mercy, even when the strap is very loose. I'm sending mine back.

Buckles require using two hands. Why weren't be buckles placed in the inside as opposed to the outside is beyond me. Design? Give me a break!

These shoes are lightweight and offer good arch support BUT STITCHING CUT THE TOP OF MY LITTLE TOE the first time I put them on. Can't wear them. [...]
