Too hot for tropical climates. Amazing that a sandle could make your feet sweat so much. Also very heavy. These shoes made there way to the bottom of my closet under my beloved Birkenstocks and Tevas.

This sandal has a "toe ridge." I don't quite understand why Keen thinks this is a good idea since your toes/feet have to be just the right size for this to work for you and if your toes are too long or short, it makes the sandal unworkable. Also, the sandal seems narrow and has way too much arch support with only a moderate amount of cushioning.

Despite all the hype with some reviews above I have found that the shoe does not live up to expectations. I got them because they are "waterproof" but if they get wet, they REMAIN wet for many hours (I got them wet yesterday evening and this AM they were still wet), which is annoying. They also make your soles very hot. Fit is great and styling is awesome.

Is that me? As much as I love wearing Keen Newport sandals, I am disappointed by the fact that the hybrid emits a rather strong odor of rubber/plastic. Try standing in a crowded elevator and suddenly becoming aware that the stench of retread is coming from you. Shouldn't happen with such an excellent product line.

Expected More - These look good but don’t deliver the comfort I expected. My Keen winter boots are great. I got blisters on the side of my foot from these and being diabetic and need to be careful these are now in the back of the closet.

My toe hurts - These sandals felt fine at first. Then, after a few wearings, I noticed constant pain in my smallest left toe. I've loosened the left sandal to the point where my foot moves almost too freely, but the pain persists -- until I remove the sandals and wear other footwear or go barefoot.

Wirebender - I am very pleased with the Keen Newport Sandal recently purchased. I am very active and the shoe gives me good fit and lateral support for boating, beach ball etc. I am very pleased with the venting and the toe protection.

Bought them a month ago. Steel isn't steel, it's green. The odor-resistant Serdia footbed doesn't resist odor at all (I leave mine outside most evenings now). The enclosed toe and leather uppers cause massive perspiration and get uncomfortable after a few hrs. Most importantly, the heel part of the footbed is lower than the ball of my foot, resulting in strain on and unusual stretching of the knee ligaments when walking, rendering them useless for outdoor activities. If you have a high arch, they offer little arch support. My $25 Columbia sandals work better and feel better than these. Quite a disappointment. But hey - they look good!

These were great-my husband has had a pair for at least 15 years-but on this pair, the tab on the laces ripped through the first time he tried to tighten it.

The fit and size was fine. The problem is one cannot easily get these guys on and subsequently off due to limited accessibility and for a sandal one wants fast on/off.

The shoe was too narrow and hurt my feet length was OK but I need a wider width. Nothing wider seems to be available in this shoe.

After a relatively mild hike in Zion, the heel straps on one sandal became separated from the footbed and came completely out of the other. Very disappointing for a product that is marketed as a durable amphibious hiking sandal.

I was very disappointed in these sandals. I wore them a half dozen times or so and the sole began to fall off in chunks. I couldn't believe it. I hadn't stepped on anything and I had only worn them briefly never for a long hike on sharp objects. The last few years I notice the shoes and socks are not as good quality as they once were. Too bad. I won't be buying these again.

Please don't get me wrong with a negative review. We also bought Old Towne kayaks for my wife and myself from LL Bean, but these water shoes and their sandals are awful if you live on a river that has a lot of sand or small rocks. Every time you exit your kayak, you have to clean these things out. WE thought you would be able to shake your foot back and forth in the water while standing next to your kayak, but this only works for part of the rocks. Then you have to sit down on your kaya and take the dang things off to rinse them out completely and trying to put a wet pair back on is aggravating. If you buy a water shoe. buy the ones that have the mesh all along the sides to keep the gravel and sand out. It will definitely make for a more enjoyable trip. We live on the South Holston River and kayak almost everyday in the late Spring through fall.

but it was impossible to push my foot inside due to a tight elastic at the bridge of my foot. I returned the sandals which costs $6.75 to do.

I bought this model of Keens a few years ago.. what a big disappointment to get these cheap Keens. Keen has cut back on the amount of material they use. My old pair is longer and wider. These are a good ¼" shorter and narrower. Plus the materials used in these new ones are thinner and cheaper feeling. My guess is Keen saved a couple of dollars on using less materials and thinner materials to sell me an expensive pair of sandals that are uncomfortable. They are too tight in the toe area. I am sending them back. I am staying away from Keen.

The sandal ran a little bigger than I expected. Unfortunately due to the way the sole is 'moulded' to fit the foot, being slightly larger meant the arch support, the grooves, etc were slightly off, making this very uncomfortable. They are also a little too warm to wear in the bay area summer.

I really liked the styling and features of these sandals but they were too painful to wear for long periods. There is a tab sewn into the outside edge that creates a bulge where the tag is attached. The bulge becomes very incomfortable and painful after wearing them for a few hours. I tried wearing them over a two week period hoping they would "break-in", but could not overcome the problem. I ultimately returned them.

Within 60 days of purchase the footbed is detaching from the sole on one of the sandals. I've worn Keens for years but I'm very disappointed with the quality of the last two pairs. At their prices they shouldn't fall apart so quickly. There are plenty of cheaper alternatives. I won't buy Keens again.

This was the exact same size as my previous pair of Keen shoes, but this one fit very poorly, and will not buy this style again.

This is the worst shoe I have ever purchased. Yes, I purchased the correct size. They fit, but seemed a little bit harsh out of the box. "Oh well," thought I, "I'm certain they're wonderful after a slight break in period." I bravely donned my new shoes and walked a couple of miles; 4 blisters on one foot, 3 on the other. These shoes felt like wires cutting flesh after long enough. If I loosened them ridiculously to alleviate the "cutting" sensation, they slipped around and gave me burning hot spots. I eventually made the choice to remove the shoes and gingerly pick my path back along broken sidewalks and littered streets barefoot. Keen also says these are for water. I shudder to imagine the damage done had I actually walked through water and then let these shoes tear into me. That may have actually landed me at a clinic. Why do so many people rave about this shoe? These ruined two days of a vacation; the day I wore them and a day to heal from wearing them. 5 stars for style though; at least they look good. Form before function in this case, I suppose. I'll be returning these. Breaking in new combat boots is infinitely preferable to walking in these shoes.

Disappointed - Keenly - I own two pairs of Keen sandals (Monterey and Newport) and have recently returned from a journey through the Congo, Zambia and eastern Angola. A significant part of the journey was an expedition down the seldom traveled part of the upper Zambezi River that runs through Angola. I opted to take the newer pair of Keens Newports (over my all leather Monterey older pair that I have had for some years) on my journey as a back up to my boots anticipating difficult variable conditions including river travel because they promised to be water proof. I am sorry to say that the Keens were not up to the challenge - they literally fell apart on me. The side straps separated from the sole and the front toe cap came away from the shoe. I am very disappointed and saddened that the quality of your products seems to have deteriorated. I work in very challenging conditions in Africa in countries were I cannot merely go to a local store for a replacement and rely on dependable hard wearing footwear as an essential part of my survival on site. I realize now that this product has become a fashion accessory rather than a serious outdoor footwear item.
