Shimano

Shimano Logo
In 1961, a three-speed bicycle hub displayed at the New York Toy Show became the catalyst for what would eventually become Shimano American Corporation. The popularity of 20-inch wheeled bikes with hi-rise handle bars fueled a demand for multi-speed hubs and Shimano® began producing an affordable and reliable version that caught the attention of the cycling world. By 1965, Yoshizo Shimano, the youngest son of the company founder in Japan, opened an office in New York to get product feedback and to provide technical and warranty assistance to retailers selling bikes equipped with Shimano® parts.

Though Shimano America has grown from its modest office staffed by only three people to a full distribution center with sales and marketing offices, the goals are the same: to ensure that Shimano® always has a listening ear to provide feedback on relevant trends and needs and make it a reality for their customers.

Shimano® invented SPD recessed cleat and pedal technology, which revolutionized the industry. The unique systems-engineered shoe/pedal combinations - only from Shimano® - enhanced power-transfer even more. A few years later the efficiencies were applied to the road systems with the development of SPD-SL technology. Less wasted movement, even distribution of power across the pedal and increased comfort. Simply more power from you to the bike.

Shimano's participation extends much further than its products. Through advocacy programs, ISO 14001 certification and even commuter/car pool programs for their employees, Shimano® is committed to minimizing their impact on the environment.

Great shoe, the clasping system is genius (Boa) and the best closure system I have ever used. Really nice shoe. Worth the money.

Awesome shoes! Overall I'm happy with them. If I were ordering again I'd definitely go with the 43.5. I wear a 9.5 in Nike running shoes so I purchased the 44. They are tad loose but not loose enough to return.

I am always a 9.5 and I ordered the 42, they fit great. I was worried that the unisex pair would be too wide but they are fine and can be adjusted with the velcro. No arch support which I think is normal for these shoes, but overall I am happy with the purchase. Now I just have to buy the SPD set separately.

Fits well and is comfortable. This style strap on the ME301 is much more durable than the strap on the new 400 series, in my opinion.

Shimano shoes have always felt very comfortable to me during many hours on the bike. The uppers are soft and flexible while the stiff soles prevent fatigue in the arch of the foot. I like the road touring style which allows you to walk on payment or concrete without messing up the SPD cleats on the bottom of the shoes.

Very comfortable spin shoe. SPD cleat compatible for spinning classes (need to buy separately, but inexpensive and easy to install!) These shoes have been easy to work out in since day 1. Strong Velcro that doesn’t budge !

Nice looking shoe; comfortable. Glad I read the reviews. I am a true size 7 (6.5 in Adidas Originals, which run half a size small). Size 40 (US 7.8) fit me perfectly, so order a larger size than usual. Bought these and attached Look Delta/SPD-SL cleats to use on Peloton spin bike. Hope this helps with sizing.

This is described as an indoor cycle shoe. IT IS NOT! It CAN be worn indoors but there is no rubber sole to protect floors or keep the shoe from totally sliding on a hard floor surface (and also causing the clear to scratch floors). There is a model of this same shoe with a rubber sole For walking indoors but not offered here (the SH-ME301 would work but not exactly the same). Would be perfect though for outdoor cycling, although that’s not what I needed, so I returned them.

These fit the bill for occasional indoor cycling (2-3/week). After about 15 wears, I did feel the straps need to be pulled a bit tighter but it's not a big issue since they're fine during class. Overall, good quality and comfortable (more than Pearl Izumi to me) for the price.

The big problem with this shoe is that when you walk they tend to roll your foot to the inside. I also question the stiffness of the shoe. I returned them

This shoe looks good and fits well. I returned it because it is heavy and has little ventilation. The strap fastening to the medial aspect of the shoe is not a problem as several other high end Triathlon bike shoes are designed the same way. I advise not to let this design element deter you from giving these shoes a try.

I bought the shoe based on its style and look - not as bulky as a Mountain shoe, but with a sleek road shoe feel. What I found is that you must buy at least one size larger than you would expect as they run small and the hard toe offers no give. For me, I normally wear a 10.5 shoe (euro 45) but settled on an 11.8 shoe (euro 47) - a big difference (and even then my toe was pretty close to the end of the shoe). Other than that, excellent!

I ordered these based on reviews and I have to say I'm pretty frustrated. These shoes require a cleat adapter to be used with SPD cleats. This was not at all listed or stated anywhere. Returning!

Fit and size were good I wear an 8 and got a 41 So far comfortable. Wear riding a Peloton. So much more cushioned than the ones Peloton sell. Only 4 stars because expensive and the technology is new to me But getting the hang of the dial closure. I would recommend these shoes.

Perfect for me. I need spinning shoes that are more like sneakers. I ain't changing shoes just for spinning. The cleats are recessed enough so they don't touch the ground when walking around.

Fit was a bit tight, so you may want to order a half size up, though I decided to keep the 8.5 as a half size will=clown shoes. Great for spinning and the clips, which must be ordered separately, were very easy to attach. I literally put them on and took a class.

I got these shoes for my mom birthday, she loved them ! You def. Have to order a whole size up, my mom is a 6.5 and i ordered a 7.5. It fit perfect, also be aware to buy the bottom piece that connects to an spd petal. The details are in bottom description of the shoe and I didn't read that part. Overal very clean cut shoe, nice material and look very supportive. My mom uses them for her spinning class and for an experienced rider, she loves them.
