THE MEANING OF LIFE
Marmot clothing and equipment began in April 1971, when two University of California Santa Cruz students Eric Reynolds and Dave Huntley were in the Juneau Icefields of Alaska on a school project in Glaciology. While atop those glaciers, it was there amongst the students that the concept of a Marmot club was born. In order to become a Marmot, they had to climb a glacieted peak with another Marmot. In addition, everyone was president.

During that summer and up until 1973, Eric and Dave began making prototypes of down clothing in their dorm room. In addition to Eric and Dave, their friend Tom Boyce joined their ranks and opened a rental/retail shop under the name Marmot Mountain Works. Here is where the Marmot company was brought to life in the summer of 1974.

Marmot incorporates quality Gore-Tex® in their products, maintaining the highest quality performance product. As a company, they actually remain to be the oldest customers of Gore-Tex® in the world outdoor market. Marmot endeavors to provide outdoor gear that is authentic, innovative and best in class. In every area of business practice that they engage in, they passionately seek the highest level of quality, performance, service and value.

I am 5’7” and wear a 40DD bra and the XL fit great. I have it in black, and it looks cool, and nicely tailored for work. I could even fit a fleece underneath for when temps are in the 40s. By itself it’s ideal for 50s temps. Good coverage over the back hips.

Love the color. Love the style. Love how lightweight it is. Easy to pack! Haven’t tried to clean yet. Runs kind of small, probably because of fitted style.

Looks good, not baggy but also not constricting. 'Full zip' does not completely open, meaning you cannot slide the zipper halves off either top or bottom edge. Which is strange since if this feature is intended to aid in putting on pants over boots and such, the point of connected zipper mechanism will become a (movable) bottleneck eventually. Also the waistline is fairly loose fit for my 32inch waist and doesn't have adjustable string/elastic drawcord to tighten, side velcros are arranged in a way to not allow offset application to tighten up either. Size reviewed: medium. Small size is a LOT tighter around the thighs.

I am 5'11 about 190 a bought an xl to wear on top of a fleece. The xl is pretty big and fits a bit big on me even with a fleece on. This jacket is really light and will keep you warm. I may buy a large just to have a smaller size to wear casually. I like the style and the draw cord on the waist a lot. Definitely recommend this product.

A terrific and versatile jacket. Perfect for travel since it's waterproof and stylish. Gently shaped, but not excessively so. I am 5'3" and weigh 113. The small fits perfectly with just enough room for a light fleece if I needed one. Love that the hood tucks into the collar.

Fits true to size. Bought this as a running jacket for the polar vortex type weather we've been having in the Midwest. It does the job well - even through sweat (disclaimer - in under 10 temps I also wear a LS tech shirt and fleece underneath). Love that it hangs lower in the front and back. Great for someone active looking to stay toasty.

I love Marmot and am usually a M but in this jacket - perhaps because it's thick - it was too tight. Ordered the L - too bulky and baggy. I'm 5'10 and 155 lbs so maybe someone a little shorter with thinner frame might like. But I had to return. Super cute style though and very soft - though not very breathable.

Looks very stylish and sleek on. I wish the material was made of something a little different, I feel like it’s not the great if you plan getting hot or sweaty, not very absorsnt. But I received a few compliments on this piece and love the neck live. The thumb holes rock!

SUPER warm. But the most "marshmallowy" sleeves of any puffer coat I have ever tried (and I have tried a lot). Incredibly unflattering. The hood is also very shallow, so it looks quite dumb when you have it up. Sent back immediately. If you're just after warmth, though--this may be a good option!

I ordered a Lg and usually wear a M but want to layer sweaters, etc under the jacket. I wore it on a windy, rainy day and can say it repelled water and kept out the wind. Length is perfect, not too short nor too long for a 5'4" height. Love the Platinum color - it goes with everything. Perfect for an upcoming hiking trip.

Love this vest. I was worried it might look cheap given the colorful fake fur, but the opposite is true. The vest fits my curvy figure better than my Patagonia vests. And I am surprised that it warms me so wonderfully without making me sweat.

The Marmot Precip rain jacket is a super lightweight, extremely versatile jacket. The platinum color is a cool neutral that looks awesome with literally any outfit. I wasn’t really sure how this color would pair with my fair skin, but it actually looks quite nice. Some neutrals can make me look really washed out, but this color worked well. Size large is perfect for my long arms. I’m 5’-6”, but my arms didn’t get the memo and are super long, so while my body could probably fit in a medium, I’ll almost always size up for extra sleeve length. Plus with the larger size, there is still space to layer a long sleeve shirt or something more substantial underneath and still have room to move around. If you are pear shaped like me, this jacket is great. It is not too long, so it hits your hips at a flattering place and doesn’t weirdly pull or puff up across your stomach as some jackets can. Doubles as a great wind breaker and I love the arm pit vents (those are a must for me!). I’ll wear this jacket to work, to meet friends in the city, or on a hike. It’s also very easy to pack (you can roll it up and tuck it in a tote purse or carry on, it takes up very little space and weighs just about nothing). Overall, a pretty awesome jacket... just be careful you don’t snag any delicate sweater fabric on the Velcro! I wish there were some sleek snaps or a waterproof zipper instead of Velcro, but otherwise it’s perfect!
