Hi-Tec

Hi-Tec Logo
Hi-Tec® Sports was founded in 1974 in the appropriately named village of Shoeburyness, in Essex, England. The company´s original success grew from the breakthrough design and development of Hi-Tec's first ever shoe, the Hi-Tec Squash, specifically designed for the then fast growing game of squash. An industry benchmark then and now, few shoes in athletic footwear history have recorded unit sales of over 18 million pairs worldwide to date. The Hi-Tec Squash shoe remains Britain's all time best selling sports shoe model to this day.

It was not until 1982 that the Hi-Tec brand name and logo were globally launched as a result of a decision to become a major worldwide sports brand. The innovative, successful global development of Hi-Tec shoes became a casebook study at a prestigious university. Today Hi-Tec is proud to report that there are over 500 Hi-Tec styles being commercialized throughout 80 countries worldwide, under the Hi-Tec Outdoor, Hi-Tec Court, Hi-Tec Golf, Hi-Tec Sport, Urban collections and Magnum shoe brands; a whole family of great products for sports and footwear enthusiasts.

Hi-Tec almost singularly focuses on developing attractive, comfortable, lightweight, high-quality shoes at a fair "true value" price. Hi-Tec applies high technology build processes and leverage innovative materials to ensure the ultimate in comfort, whether your needs are performance-oriented, or more leisure wear centric.

Hi-Tec is: easy, friendly, contemporary, comfortable, and accessible.

I like these lightweight hiking shoes. They are comfortable, sturdy and light weight. Be sure to order 1/2 size up as the length runs a little small.

This is my first pair of hiking boots. They were comfortable from the beginning. I tried four different pair and these hands-down be comparable boots at same price or higher. I will use these on snow and ice in MN. I wear am 8.5 shoe but got a 9 after reading reviews and it was the right decision. My foot is a bit wider with a high instep but these fit fine

Get 1/2 size larger than what you wear for a good fit. They run a little small.

I am a true 8--sometimes even a 7.5, and these hiking shoes were too short. I could feel from just a few minutes in them that a hike would be agonizing: my big toe was hitting the front like it might with shoes that were too small. Might (sorta) be tolerated with another kind of shoe, but not a hiking shoe. I might give the 8.5 a chance but otherwise these are definitely going back. These definitely run small in length.

I have a high in-step, so these are tight across the top of my foot. I took out the inner sole and they fit better. Not as much arch support, but these are part time shoes.. I think they look good and somewhat stylish.

Quality of the materials used appears excellent. My shoes were delivered a couple of days ago but I find myself still only using them indoors (in case I need to return them). The shoe seems to be narrower than the wide width I ordered, at least when comparing to other shoes I wear. These shoes are really tight across the instep and I am hoping it is because they just need to be broken in, hence wearing them around the house. Really tight as in uncomfortable! The remainder of the fit is just fine, no slippage in the heel and plenty of wiggle room for my toes. Just wish the instep felt better.

These are at least 2 sizes too small. I will not order this brand in the future, just too much of a hassle having to keep going to a UPS store to return them.

I got the same shoe(Altitude IV) about 5 years ago, and they have been awesome. I've loved them, and used the older ones doing farm work, yard work, hiking, and daily wear. The new ones look as good as the previous version. But, I think the new ones are lacking as compared to the original Altitude IV shoes. * The only way I was able to identify the old(previous shoe) version is the label sown into the inside of the tongue of my old shoe still showed "Altitude IV 9W by Hi-Tec". But bad news folks. The new shoe does NOT have any identifying information that the shoe model information. So, in 4-5 years when I want a replacement, I won't know the model, because it's not identified anywhere on the shoe. Summary: Seems like Hi-Tec has slipped back in their quality based on the item mentioned above. Hope the shoe wears and feels as good as the previous version. -Randy

These are comfortable boots. My only issue is that two of the top hooks have broken off. The boot doesnt fit well if you can't tie it up to the top.

Very happy with my purchase, great quality boot for the money, had Columbia and Keen in the past, these are just as good, maybe better and a much better price. I recently wore the boots on hike with my dog in wet and cold conditions, feet stayed dry and warm.

The boots look and feel great (for a snow boot). Not too chunky and a really nice height. The lacing system works really well. The outsole has heaps of grip and really deep tread. I have had these in 8" of snow this weekend and they kept my feet warm and dry. I had to go up half a size and I would recommend anyone else do the same. Other than that, very happy.

I wish these had fit. Hi-Tec makes such a good looking leather hiking boot. I have an old pair of Hi-Tecs from years ago that I loved. I have a narrow foot, but with the addition of a green superfeet insole and a Dr Scholl's foam insole, I was able to make them work. But the last couple of years, the right shoe has been rubbing a blister so it was time to replace. These were just too big overall, and even with the addition of the two insoles, they still slipped at the heels. Two quibbles: the laces are not long enough (not usually a problem with my narrow feet) and they are made of a material that is going to slip and come untied.

I usually wear a 10.5 to 11 size medium width athletic shoe to ensure good toe clearance. The Hi-tec shoes instantly rubbed against my big toe, without even trying to stand up and walk in the shoe. The shoe was also uncomfortably more narrow than the Columbia shoes I also tried. Whatever shoe-last Hi-Tec is using, it certainly isn't anything close to the Columbia shoe. The final insult was the cut of the high ankle cuff was awkward and fell in a truly peculiar location on my ankle bone. For comparison, I ordered a pair of Columbia Newton Ridge Plus Waterproof Amped boots in a nearly identical style as a size 11 at the same time as these Hi-Tec boots. The Columbia boots fit perfectly and provided enough clearance at the front of the shoe so that my toes did not bang into the front of the shoe when I walked. The ankle cut tapered correctly for my foot and did not cause discomfort. If you have a need for a wide toe box or your foot is not particularly narrow I would definitely not try to squeeze into these shoes. The styling was very nice and they seem sturdy, however you'll need to order way up on these and, of course, they top out at 11. That's assuming the ankle cuff fits you better than it did me.

Felt at least a full size small, if not a size and a half small. If that is true of the brand, it explains why my son refused to wear his Hi-tec boots last year after the first wearing...
