Hestra

Hestra Logo
From its beginnings in the Swedish province of Småland, Hestra® has always been driven towards quality. For close to 80 years its spirit and focus have never left those timber forests. Founded in 1936 by Martin Magnusson out of his farmhouse, the business began providing for local lumberjacks in need of durable, water-resistant gloves. In 1937, a ski slope was built nearby drawing attention from locals. As alpine sports grew in popularity, Magnusson saw a new market for his first-rate gloves, and took to making performance products with a user-driven design.
Still run by third and fourth generation Magnussons, the family maintains a close eye on quality to ensure only the best products go out the door. All gloves are manufactured in Hestra factories and the company personally buys all leather, fabric, wool, and other materials. With an artisan focus on finding the balance between durability, moisture resistance, and flexibility, several of their models are handmade by some of the most experienced glove makers in Europe.
As one of the leading international glove brands in skiing, outdoor recreation, and leisure, Hestra’s origins in work gloves still shines through in all of their products today. From mittens to alpine gloves and liners, you can be secure in the fact that these items can take a beating for seasons to come.

They are certainly not making gloves to fit humans these days!! I am a woman who can usually and comfortably wear a Mens Small. The fingers in these are about 1/2-1 inch too short and the lining is so thick in finger area you can't bend your hand without discomfort!! Style is nice and leather is nice - what a shame they can't be worn!!

A great pair of gloves. Leather is high quality, the inside is oh-so-soft, and the ribbed cuff makes a great finishing touch. Hoping these last many many years.

The three finger design felt cumbersome and somewhat restricting when clenching a fist. I was worried they may tire my hands when holding ski poles. I have exchanged for the mitten version- as the leather is very soft and pliable. FYI I am female- may be more suited to fit the male hand.

I've been skiing 30+ years. I ski in all conditions, like a full day, so appreciate functional, effective, technical gear. Long ago, I switched from leather to waterproof fabric gloves, had the first (then very well-made) model of Seirus gloves which had an inner plastic waterproofing, a removable liner with inner sub-zero fleece microfiber flocking, and double stitching throughout...unlike what is available now from that company today. I was hesitant to buy these leather Hestra gloves, as they don't have a removable fitted liner, or many zippered areas for heat packs in extreme sub-zero cold. But you won't need them! These are very well-made, WARM, and sleek in a classic way, the elastic fitted cuff will fit smoothly under your jacket, easy to remove and put back on. I bought a pair 2 years ago, and appreciate the improvement of a hook attachment. Other gloves on the market offer ability to use a touchscreen without removing them. This would be a terrific improvement, but in any case, they are well-made, of excellent quality, warm, sleek, functional!

These gloves are extremely comfortable and warm. The Hestra sizing scheme is spot on. I wear XL gloves/mitts and purchased size 11. They might be a tad large, but only a tad. Much better than a tad too small. The wrist band is very convenient. I use these for snowmobiling, as well, and have no warmth issues. Removable liners is huge. These are easy to remove after skiing and placed on a dryer. Owners should frequently treat the leather, however. I do this almost after every use. I dropped one star on "Overall," due to price. $140 is pretty stiff for a pair of gloves. A little rich for my blood, but I am very pleased with style and performance.

These are the best ski gloves I have ever owned (been skiing 20+ years). They are extremely warm, and the leather is both soft & durable. The wrist straps are clutch - my first gloves with these, and they are extremely convenient.

Love them. Comfortable, cute and stylish. I got them in white and they look fab. Sizing isn't great, though. Size 7 was short in the fingers but fine in the palm. Size 8 fit the fingers but are a tad baggy in the palm area.

BEAUTIFUL gloves! Deerskin is the most durable leather and Hestra is known for warmth, which is my highest priority. It is below zero where I live today, and I am so happy to be able to wear these gloves today!

The gloves fit well, have good features, should be very durable. I have cold hands, and agree that at or below freezing - wish the fingers were warmer. Hard to find really warm gloves that are dextrous, have good grip, etc.

Recently picked these up. Big fan of Hestra's glove sizing (sizing is akin to ring sizing - unisex, lots more fits than anyone else). They make a great glove, and these fit extremely well, look great, and seem like they'll be a good mid-weight warm glove that will last a long time. The elk leather is very supple straight away - doesn't seem like it will need any break in period.

I don't ski, I just like warm hands in the cold winters. Yes, my hands stayed dry. I use the Hestra balm as directed. My only complaint is, that my fingers still get cold in less than 5 minutes on cold days (low teens). I was disappointed with that only. I love the look and style, even if somewhat bulky.

These would have been great gloves, but they were WAY too small for my 8 year old girl (who is of average size). I first ordered the size 5, because of the "Hestra junior size chart" that is in the description. They were WAY too small. I returned them and ordered the size 7 (intended for a 12-13 year old) and they were also too small. So back they go.
