Off to a great start

As a parent, your child’s health comes second to none. It is for us, too. At adidas, we are committed to the lifelong care of your little ones’ feet – from crawling, walking, jumping and running to fulfilling their biggest dreams.

The first step to healthy feet

We count on our feet to carry us throughout our lives. So proper development is essential. While going barefoot is best, it’s rarely possible in today’s environment. And finding the correct shoes for your child’s various development stages can be a difficult task. Did you know that 70 % of foot problems come from wearing the wrong shoes? And the majority is already caused during childhood? So it is important to make your child’s first steps healthy ones. That’s why our footwear specialists have teamed-up with medical experts to understand the best ways to support a healthy foot development.

Doctor Recommended

Prof. Dr. Markus Walther is the Medical Director of the Center for Foot and Ankle Surgery at the Schön Klinik, München Harlaching and Vice Chairman of the FIFA Medical Center of Excellence, Munich. With his help, adidas continues to perfect ways to ensure healthy foot development for happy, active lives to come.

Did you know?

Experts say a child should take at least 10.000 steps a day. By the age of 5, this can add up to a walk from Berlin to Beijing!

adidas Outdoor helps your children reach your maximum athletic potential in all your hiking, trekking and outdoor quests.

We loved these! My sporty orty son who is all about running shoes wore these every day during the summer months. We went to the lake or river every other day for the last 2 summers and they still look awesome...and he was 10-11 so you can imagine the beating they took. I did order up so he could wear them 2 summers and there was no problem. Here I am now, looking for them in a bigger size but I'm not seeing "BIG KID" sizes, maybe have to do a mens? Not ready to pay mens prices tho... Anyway if you're on the fence, I say get em! He loved them and he's super picky on comfort and style. I loved them because they held up for 2 summers and then some!!

We got these for my son who is between big boy and men's sizes. They work great and we are looking forward to hiking in them. The laces were a factor for us since we are planning on using them to hike and didn't want him to slip out of them. We haven't used them yet, but since he loves them already I am hopeful that our initial excitement will continue.

They bright blue is a sharp looking pair of shoes. The laces are nice and long and he learned to tie his shoes on them. The toe area is scuffed up already, not happy about that, it’s now scruffy brown in spots.

My son loves these shoes. They have great traction and are easy for a 5 year old to put on and take off. I will definitely be purchasing another pair when he outgrows them.

These shoes are fantastic. I have three little boys under the age of 7 and they all have had a version of this shoe over the past year. They are indestructible - which is impressive for my boys who are always digging in the dirt, jumping in puddles, and spend many hours outside in the forest behind our house. When they outgrew their current pairs, I didn't hesitate to repurchase the exact same shoe. Just wish they came in more color options.

Run a little large. They aren't as "cool" looking in real life as they looked online. My son isn't crazy about them. But they are a nice shoe, seem well made. Will be good for the snowy/muddy season.

These were a last minute purchase since my son's feet had grown overnight and his old shoes were too small! Totally mom fail. I came across these and purchased them on sale, they arrived within 2 days and my son (4 1/2) loves them! They're super cute, but most of all they're practical. He's a rambunctious little boy and plays rough. These shoes have totally held up! I recommend these and will most likely purchase another pair once my son grows out of his current pair!

These have very tough soles so the shoes take a couple weeks to really break in. My son has been wearing them for 7 months and they've held up awesomely well. The black works perfect for his school too - even for church and recess on the same day. Pretty indestructible outside of the toes showing wear. He's growing out of his size so I'm getting another pair.

My 8-year-old son is hard on shoes. I have four kids, and none of them beat up shoes like this child. I stopped buying him shoes with any mesh-type of feature 2 years ago. They were torn out within a week or two of wearing. With some hesitation, I bought him a pair of Adidas "crossover" type shoe-boot-hiker last spring, similar to the Adidas Kids Terrex this review is about. Hesitation, because it seemed like they might be too warm to be used in the summer. They were quickly both our favorite shoe style for him because of the durability (me) and style (him). He loved how tough and grippy they were. I loved that he outgrew them before they had totally crumbled to pieces. He wore them all summer long. When it came time to replace the previous model, the Terrex was this year's model. A bummer at the higher price-point, but we love the toughness, style, and fit. I would not normally spend $85 on shoes for an 8-year-old, but these hold up enough to make it a worthwhile investment for this kiddo. Fit: My son has a quite-wide foot, but he finds these very comfortable. We swap out elastic-tighteners for the laces so he can hop in and out faster without having to bother tying them. Makes these hikers a perfect shoe for a rough and tumble kid.
