They just run way too small. Had to send them back. My husband wears a 8 1/2 4 E . Had the buy the Xtra large and still too small.

This is definitely not my favorite pair of Smartwool socks. It seems like over the years, more and more wool has been replaced with nylon and it's reducing the comfort. The socks feel scratchy on my feet and aren't as comfortable on long, hot runs. That being said, the socks do seem to be well made as one pair has gone through multiple 5-10K runs and subsequent washes and there's no discernible pilling.

Love the feel of the wool and the odor and moisture battling properties. Not much cushion at all which is good for hot days as they stay cool, also good if your shoes don’t have a lot of wiggle room for your sock. Just don’t expect them to be cushy. Great socks.

Bought these for my son. He's super active but needs support and a little thickness in his sneakers. He wears these year round and has several pairs. Pretty much the only sock he likes to wear - and they've lasted through tons of washes. Worth the investment.

I love these socks. I've worn out several pairs of these and the cycling ultra-light socks over the years and I keep coming back for more. They last a really long time. I have pairs that are 5 years old and remain comfortable and correctly fitting after many, many miles, even when I've worn them down to almost transparency. Eventually the ankle elastic gets tired and flowers a bit but it's fine when it's on your foot.

Good quality. Fit is good. Lighter weight is great for warmer weather.

Any negative comment in this review is based solely on sizing. Like a few have said, these run very small. I'm a size 10.5 and the large (up to 11.5) were way too tight. Unfortunately they are out of stock of the XLs. I've had a pair of Smartwool ultras for about 10 years and wear them constantly. They've held up incredibly well. Smartwool is the best thing going for socks.
