You've got to be kidding!! The Merrell Moab Ventilator which I bought in January after reviewing over 1,000 comments on Zappos is fantastic. So... I thought I should get another pair but they are no longer available. Apparently they've been replaced by the Moab 2 Vent. Although I ordered the same size, assuming the fit and style would be close, it was no where near the same shoe. The shoe (same size) is considerably larger and no longer even looks like a shoe. The whole shoe is wide, not narrowing where the foot normally narrows. Now it is kind of like wearing the shoe box. Why, oh why, do companies mess with a design that appeals to so many people? Now I will begin the search, once again, for low cut wide shoes. Bring back the popular design. Previously I purchased a 10W. This is way too big now. I could get a smaller size but the shape of the shoe (or lack of shape) is discouraging.

I agree with the previous "Anonymous" reviewer that posted on April 27, 2017. I have 4 pairs of the Moab Vent (version) #1 hiking shoes. These NEW Moab Vent (version) #2 hiking shoes run a bit larger and feel boxier (which works fine for me since I have Fred Flintstone feet -- a bit on the wide side). I always get a size 8.5, but had to return them for a size 8. Word to the wise, especially if you are a regular Merrell Moab Vent customer like me.

I love them! Comfy and supportive. I walk every day, trying for 3-4 miles. These shoes hardly needed any breaking in. They were plenty wide for my aging, spreading feet. Fit was as ordered and expected. The Smoke color is more on the blue side of the spectrum rather than the grey I was expecting but still a nice color.

I'm so happy, these fit like a dream! I have horrible wide feet and these are perfect for me! Can't wait to get up into the mountains!

So far so good. Very comfortable, great fit and great style. I hesitated to order the smoke with blue color which seemed very drab online. However I was happy that my size,10 1/2 Wide was available. I find that Merrell often runs narrow. Smoke with blue is quite nice ...subtle. Customer service is amazing! Thank you!

Comfortable and secure shoe. My fat, achy feet love them. Great for long hikes. My only complaint: The laces need to be retied frequently. Change them to avoid aggravation.

I've come back to Merrell after years of Keen, my arthritic feet and hallux rigidus is simply difficult to accomodate! These are great, nice wide soft toe box that adjusts nicely with the lacing. The heel support feels great and the tread is everything you would expect from Merrell! I would personally like more "squish" under the forefoot for regular walking and think that these will feel very "flat" very soon (I've had this problem with other Merrell and had thus moved on to Keen). They do however, provide the stiffness that I need to keep my feet from going in directions not meant to go! I'm a 7 1/2 but went back and ordered down to a 7, felt better and still took a range of sox and my padded smartwools. Very cute styling and great colors to choose from!

Comfortable right out of the box! I was a bit concerned because I wear a WW in many styles so I was afraid the W wouldn't be wide enough for me, but these shoes were comfortable right out of the box. I wore them on a six mile hike without any break-in and my feet felt great during and after the hike. I am very happy with this shoe!

I LOVE these shoes! I have very wide feet, plantar fasciitis and the beginnings of a bunion (geez, sounds awful!), but these were comfortable right out of the box for me. The mesh didn't require break-in like leather does. The first day I wore these on a 7+ mile fast hike over varied terrain with lots of up and down - no problem. The next day a 10+ mile hike with less hills but varied terrain and again, no problem! Note, I usually buy an 8.5 wide, but I got these in a 8 wide and they are very roomy, so the wide is definitely generous. I also tried other brands but these were the widest. These are the most comfortable shoes I own and I have a lot of good shoes - Birkenstocks, Danskos, Mephistos, Vionics, etc. I even like them better than my sneakers with custom orthotics.

Every year I bought a pair of of the Merrell Moab Ventilators and this is apparently their new model. While it does seem a bit clunkier than what they offered previously, I'm still pleased with the styling and comfort. Also, it provides good arch support which is something I need. Overall, a good hiking shoe for light to moderate hiking.

After reading reviews on here I bought these and went to Glacier National Park without breaking them in. I went on a 14 mile hike and they didn't hurt my feet at all! They feel great and they're pretty light. My only complaint is that they're huge. I'm 5'11 and normally wear a 9.5 or 10, so I ordered the 10 in these. They're honestly a little big, but they just gave my feet room to swell after I'd be hiking for a while. BUT they look absolutely massive. I have big fet so I'm constantly trying to make them look smaller, and these look like snow shoes lol. So they do the job very well but they are far from stylish!

I wanted to love these shoes, but the arch support is in the wrong place for my feet and they pull my socks inside the shoes and bunch them up. I think the heel is too wide and there is no secondary lace hole, like in athletic shoes, to cinch up the heels. The toe box is just right, so it's too bad the heel is so wide. They are also too heavy for me. But I loved the soles, nice and grippy, which is exactly what I need. I also loved the style and color. But they have to go back.

These were terrific! Practically right out of the box and into the suitcase for a multiday trip with loads of hiking. They're comfortable, lightweight and kept my feet in place on steep, uneven and rocky trails. Definitely recommend.

The hikers I didn't know I needed! Bought these at the last minute for my trip to Arizona and I am so thankful I did! We were lucky enough to win the lottery for The Wave 2 days before and although I was aware the hike was rated "Strenuous" I had originally planned to wear my running shoes. That would have ended up an epic fail. The hilly hike was truly treacherous - varying between uneven gravel, loose rocks, deep sand and these hikers were just what I needed to complete and survive the hike! I never would have made the hike without them!

These low hiking shoes are perfect! I had two other pairs of Merrill’s, and feared I wouldn’t find the same kind when I needed them. But here they are, and they are even improved. The first pair had the sturdy Vibram sole. The second pair did not. Although they were otherwise great, the sole did not last as long. I’m glad to see the Vibrum sole is back on this pair. Look good, wear well, and fit beautifully. All-day comfort.

I have tried at least 30 pairs of shoes searching for a good hiker for my extra wide feet and plantar fasciitis. I was ready to give up but Zappos came through! I never tried Merrell before but the feedback spurred me on and these shoes are perfect. Thank you Zappos for letting me shop without shame :).

This is my second pair of Merrell Moab. The first pair I wore out over 2 years. I have issues with plantar fasciitis and neuroma's in my feet and have to be very careful to get shoes that fit wide enough in the toe box and provide enough arch support. These shoes are fantastic and fit the bill. After wearing my 1st pair for 3 months my issues got much much better. I normally wear a 9.5 W, I bought these in a 10 WW. I bought these prior to hiking for 2 weeks in the National Parks. We hiked in the mountains with snow covering the trail the last 2 miles at the top. My shoes had the best traction of those I was hiking with. My feet stayed warm and the shoes provided the support I need. We also hiked in the Utah deserts with a lot of rock scrambling. These shoes gripped well. I would highly recommend them!

Super cute for hiking shoes, but the arch is a bit off/too extreme for my foot. I took the shoe insert out and replaced it with a Dr Scholl’s insert and it’s much better for me. It’s true to length and has a roomy toe box. I have slightly wide feet and a prior ankle injury which still causes foot swelling, so the extra room works well for me.

I bought these to replace a pair of worn out Moab 2 shoes I bought in 2014. The length and arch support are perfect and walking in them was quite comfortable, but these medium width shoes are so wide that I could wear my thickest winter socks and still have what feels like 1/2" of space to slide my feet from side to side. My guess is that these are wide width shoes that were erroneously placed into medium width boxes. There's nothing on the shoes themselves that indicate the width, so I have no way of knowing that for sure. The tongue is too long and bumps into the front of my ankle with every step. Also, the current Moab 2 design has so much extra padding in both width and height that my feet look like absolute clodhoppers. So, even if they fit perfectly, I wouldn't wear them for their sheer ugliness.

I have a very wide forefoot and narrow heel, and typically wear a size 6 in normal/running shoes. These shoes in a 6W fit the width of my foot with enough toe wiggle room with both thinner athletic socks and thicker wool/hiking socks, but the heel cup was too wide. With each step I could feel my heel moving a bit too much in the shoe. I think it will become a problem for longer hikes, so I'm returning these shoes.

This is seriously my first review ever. These shoes are the worst don’t waste your money. I bought these in May and it is September and they are falling apart. The sole is coming off this shoe and other spots the stitching isn’t holding. I thought wow they Merrell’s they will hold up but i should have gotten pretty much anything else and been fine but these were not worth the money. If I had paid 25 or something fine but I paid more and got much much less. Will not be buying Merrell’s again anytime soon. I can’t go less than one star but one star is way to good for this shoe.

This is the 2nd pair of Merrell Moab 2 I have purchased. I bought size 11B- same as my last pair. I am so glad these are still being made by Merrell. I wore out my previous pair which I have had about four years. The laces finally started falling apart and the sole pulled away from the shoe on the toe of one of them, likely because I walk my dogs in wet grass and sometimes snow and have worn them for yard work. I have looked for other boots and athletic shoes, but have had to return all of them because there's just not enough room in the toe box, but these have plenty of space for a large footed woman with bunion and hammer toes! I usually take a Wide, but the Medium in Moab 2 fits perfectly. The insole is removable for adding an orthotic arch support- which I did. The original insole has very good arch support, but I need just a bit more. I have returned a pair of Keen boots that had no arch support at all.

I have wide feet with straight block-y toes, and need a broad roomy toebox. This shoe is perfect for me! I thought a few things would be problematic, but turned out fine: • My standard size is 10W but had to go up to 10.5W • 1/2 size up is definitely the right size, but toe box length is roomier than I'm used to = not a problem. • Arch support appeared insufficient = hit my arch in exactly the right spot and is perfect. • Thought the heel area would need more padding (plantar fasciitis) = they are fine. Other people have commented that they prefer the old version of this shoe, but this version works great for me!
