I recently purchased shearling-lined Mara button shortie boots in oiled black and found, though I loved the warmth and sockless comfort, I wanted a boot with higher shaft to wear with calf-length skirts or ankle-cropped pants. These work. The brown color (very handsome, dark, rich) went on sale and since they are waterproof with shearling, I took the plunge for yet another pair. (FYI, I wear 8.5-9 Fryes and reg. shoes, depending. In these, the 9 was right, a bit long but perfect for width right out of the box.) I have muscular calves, so my other concern was whether the buckled vent would be roomy enough without any ankle pucker. There's no problem. The height falls inches below the thickest part of my leg. There's room to add another hole on the tab, if needed, too. The only hmmms to keeping these are 1) thin fur inside, esp. insoles. I'll have to put in 1/2" thick shearling replacement insoles if I keep them. Also they feel very flat, the sole is hard rubber/composite and unforgiving, so I need more arch support. The Mara shearling insoles are nice, thick shearling, the outer sole not so bulky, and my feet feel supported even though there's probably no more built-in arch support than in these. 2) At the price, I'd rather buy US-made Fryes. My older boots have held up incredibly well over years. The Mara shorties (Made in Mexico, bought at full price this fall) are looking worn already and I've only had them 3-4 months, wearing them lightly. So, for me, the jury is out whether I'll keep paying the price for Mexican Fryes. The style is timeless, but I can only justify the cost if I can wear them for many, many years.

I was excited to find waterproof shearling boots that reviewers raved. But, alas, it is not to be. I hate to be the only dissenter, but I don't think they are so great for the price. The style is not boss enough for a moto boot. They seem wimpy. They are too narrow for a winter boot; should be wider at ball of foot area for wiggle room to create warmth. I ordered 1/2 size bigger for extra room, so they were longer but didn't help the too narrow. Don't like that are shaped almost completely round. The lug soles are great. The shearling is nice although too thin, and I cannot tell if yes, but if they are shearling around the foot area, they are sheared too flat/thin. I want thick plush shearling around foot area. Also, the insole footbed, although comfortable, is not removable so you cannot replace it when needed (expensive boots should last years and after years you need to replace the shearling insole, and maybe wash it once in a while), nor can one use orthotics for arch support if you need them.

I bought the Natalie Mid Engineer with leather soles and leather linings, and I love the boot, which can be dressed up or down. But I live in Maine, and needed a more rugged and waterproof boot for winter. Because I love the edgy style of this boot so much, I splurged and bought these as a second pair for when the weather is bad and I will be spending more time outdoors. I normally wear an size 8.5 wide, and these fit perfectly. The shearling lining is so cozy and warm! Interesting that in the leather-soled boot I needed a size 9, but the lug sole boot is more true-to-size and accommodating of wide feet. They are of such high quality, between the two pairs, I expect them to last for years.

I just bought this boot on the flash sale. I am so happy I did. I had to return the first pair due to a defect, however Frye's customer service made everything so easy and their assistance was exceptional. Within a week I received the second pair and in perfect condition. This Natalie boot is heavenly soft, warm, and comfortable. The design is very feminine and it is easy getting in and out of it.

I love my new shearling lined Moto boots. I've been wearing Frye boots for years. These fit perfectly and are so warm and comfy I can wear them with or without socks. They are my go to after spin class or barre class or just down in my studio teaching piano. I am so thrilled with the quality and workmanship. These will be favorites for years!!!!

Wore these boots for the first time this past weekend. They are not stretched out yet so it is a bit tough for me to get them on and my husband has to pull them off. I know this won't need to be done once they've stretched a bit. Going to waterproof them myself.'c even though they already are. I am very happy. Definitely my type of boot.

I absolutely love Frye boots and these are wonderful in this cold weather! I put them on out of the box, they fit like a glove! They are the perfect size , I wouldn't recommend buying a larger size than you normally wear. As the shearling compresses, they loosen up a tad! Love Love Love them!

I waited around for a deep sale on this boot, and boy was it worth it. Now I can wear these to work in the Boston area when it's disgusting out and look professional while not wearing snow boots. For days when it's blizzarding I definitely recommend something heavier but these are great even in slushy puddles. They definitely do run a bit tight with a heavy winter sock so I recommend sizing up, the 6.5 made my foot tingle it was so tight so I sized up to the 7. It's a great value at the sale price!

Perfect in every way!! I could not be happier with these boots! Classy buckles without the bold Frye logo (as on the Valerie style) and a beautifully thick sole. I have narrow ankles/calves and was worried these might be too bulky or loose in the shaft but they are perfect and allow pants to tuck in nicely. I wear an 8.5 in my other Frye boots and these shearling ones fit just the same.

I'm new to New England and my poor San Diego feet have been freezing since winter came. I've only been wearing these shoes for about 7 hours but they are perfect. They are work appropriate and oh-so-cozy. They are exactly what I was looking for. I thought I'd spend a moment to talk about sizing, since that was one reason I almost didn't purchase these. I have pretty narrow feet and almost always fall between a 9 and 9.5 (usually closer to 9 these days) so buying online always scares me a bit! I bought the 9 - and they fit like a glove. There is some play in the heel but not enough to cause blisters or discomfort - and the buckle on top/around the ankle serves to hold the boot on well. My right toes (my slightly bigger foot) are a bit compressed, but not uncomfortably so, and I know from previous Frye ballet flats, that their leather will mold and eventually fit perfectly. All in all - perfect TTS fit. If you're on the fence about these: stop and get them! You'll be glad you did!

I bought this boot for farm work, looking for a boot that was shearling lined and could wear a heavy sock! I ordered 1/2 size up and this works great. No cold feet and resulting in a very happy customer. I can cavort around the farm with warm and solid boots. Thank you

I bought for my daughter (20 yrs. old) for Christmas. Wasn't sure of the size but read the reviews and they were correct. She normally wears a 9 1/2 to 10 and I went with a 10 due to the Shearling lining and they fit great! She loves them. I personally thought they were a little heavy but does not bother her at all!!!

These boots are toasty warm! I wore them to go for a walk while it was snowing. My feet stayed warm and dry! I had to wear a sock with them as I have narrow feet otherwise my heel would slip. Otherwise it fits true to size in length. Glad I have them since the temperature has gone down into the single digits. Great purchase!

Extremely well made. Very comfortable. I have a slim foot, 8.5, 8.5 fit well and I can wear socks with them. Yes they are a little heavy but these are built to last. I love them. They are replacing my Uggs.

These boots are fantastic. I needed a waterproof, warm boot to wear to work in the PNW, and these totally fit the bill. They are the perfect height and full of shearling, so my feet are toasty warm and dry in the rainy, cold, wet winters here. They are pull on/pull off, so they can be challenging to remove after a long day on your feet, but they've certainly softened over time. They're also a little heavy (since they are "lug" style), so walking in them for long distances is certainly noticeable (silver lining, however: a good workout in disguise). The only pitfall is that I wish I could wear them year-round, they are so comfy! These fit true to size and still allow room for a lightweight sock if desired.
