Product: ASICS Gel-Kayano 23 Lite-Show Color: Rioja Red/Black/Sulphur Spring ASIN #: B017SB6LZG Width: D (Medium) I recently accepted a job in an Amazon warehouse where I'll be on my feet for 10+ hours at a time, constantly speed walking/running. So far, my fitness tracker shows that I travel about 15 miles per day, so I need some comfortable shoes that will keep me happy for the 30,000 steps I'll be taking tonight. Let's start with the color: It's listed as Rioja Red/Black/Sulphur Spring. Translation: dark brown with slime yellow highlights. It's not appealing at all. 1/5 Fit: I normally wear a size 16 and these shoes are tight. Really tight. Now, I've owned probably 8 pairs of Asics over the past 10 years so I'm not new to the brand, however, this is the first pair of Asics that I've purchased with running specifically in mind. At first I just presumed that shoes specifically made for running were just supposed to be a tighter fit so that your foot moves less within the shoe, thus making your overall lap times faster; but the Zappos customer support agent I chatted with informed me that you're actually supposed to buy running shoes that are 1/2 a size bigger than you normally wear so that your foot can have room to swell while you run. Interesting. Since they're uncomfortable due to presumably being the wrong size, I can't deduct too many points as my size choices won't have an impact on other customers that happen to find a correct size. However, as my size 16 shoes aren't the size 16 that I'm used to, I must deduct a couple of points to be fair. 3/5 Since there usually aren't half sizes available for size 16 shoes, she also recommended that I could get a shoe with more width than normal to produce the same effect. These shoes are definitely too small and I'll be sending them back for a refund. Also, it's worth noting that the Zappos support agent I chatted with suggested New Balance and Brooks brand shoes for my specific application. I usually stay away from New Balance because I don't like the hugely thick platform that most of them seem to feature, but I'm open to something new. Style: 1/5 Comfort/Fit: 3/5 Total: (1+3)/10= .4 Overall Score: (5*.4)= 2/5 I ordered a few pairs of New Balance so I'll try my luck there.
I'd also recommend:
