i wanted a sneaker i could wear in the office, with decent arch support. The khaki color goes with a lot, and i love the arch support. the structured canvas feels like it’d be more durable than thin canvas keds. Overall, more comfy than birkenstock sneakers. laces aren’t excessively long, and stay tied. i wore them in hot/humid july, and my feet did not overheat. They seem to hide dirt/wear, and are comfy yet presentable.

First things first, you should buy this shoe, no question, it's amazing. Next, size up, and that's no joke. My foot is a size 10, and I typically buy size 10.5 in shoes for extra space. It so happens I already have a pair of these shoes in size 11 in a different color that are a couple years old, which at the time I bought because 10.5 was not available. So when I ordered from Zappos, I initially thought I would try a 10.5 which is my size, and to try a wide width since the normal width ones were just a touch closed in at the toe box. Nope, 10.5 was too small. Thanks to Zappos excellent exchange policy, the very next day I received the 11W in the mail. First thing I did was to compare the width to my old size 11 normal width pair, and it looked like there was no difference in the width at all... but when I put them on, wow, plenty of room in the toe box. They must accommodate wide widths by putting extra space in the upper, and that's great because it's exactly what I wanted. Anyway, that was a long story, but I wanted to include all the details for anyone else who is on the fence about sizing. Size up, and if you like extra space near the toes, consider the wide width! The shoes otherwise are really up there among my top favorite 3 shoes of all time. The footbed, the fabric, all of it is so perfect. You will not be disappointed. :)

I wear lots of black, white and red so really wanted to love these. The red in the plaid isn't very visible, so they look grayish from a distance. Love Taos brand, had to go up 1/2 size in these which I usually do in this brand. I have a narrow foot and they fit fine with socks. Just didn't love them like I thought I would. No problem at all with shoe construction.

This is my third pair of the Taos Star. I have wide feet and need good arch support. They are comfortable, cute and are great for walking around town. The colors are limited for the wide widths, so I snapped up the black plaid when they were available. I usually wear 9.5-10W, and the 10W are perfect.

This is my 5th pair. Love these shoes. I have flat feet and tendinitis = foot pain. Great support. I know they run small, some of the canvas is stiffer than others. Great shoe for me straight out of the box.

These were my second pair of the Taos Star - just ordered in a different color. I'm a pronator/flat feet and worried these wouldn't be enough support without an insert or orthotic, but they really do - just enough. I can wear them out running errands all day. Love them!

I normally get 8W in most shoes. I ended up having to get 8.5W for this shoe. I have wide feet and bunions and bunionettes, and the 8W put just a bit too much pressure on the bunions. The 8.5W fits well.

LOVE, LOVE, LOVE THESE!!!! Bought these for a trip to Europe. Knew I'd be doing a LOT of walking. They were perfect! Every morning when I put them on I would say "I'm so glad I bought these!" The arch support was fantastic! My feet have an extra bone and a small bunion - a lot of shoes cause my feet to hurt after a lot of walking but these caused no pain or discomfort. I ordered up a full size. Normally wear an 8, bought a 9. I did wear with socks and they fit snuggly (but not too snuggly) and were perfect for walking on cobblestone and brick streets. Feet felt great after long days of waking. The style is so cute and worked with every outfit. Can't believe it took me so long to find these! I am now a big fan of Taos. Will purchase more in the future.

On the advice of other reviewer s, I went up a half size. Usually wear 6 to 61/2, choose 61/2. Perfect! Cute, comfortable just what I was looking for.

Very cute, retro-style tennies with wonderful arch support (essential for those of us battling plantar fascitis). The kakhi canvas is a very attractive medium beige. The thick laces are super cute. The wide is quite roomy, even a little wider than most, though the shoes stay in place just fine. I'm usually a 7.5W or 8 regular, and the 7.5W fits with a little width to spare.

I love these sneakers. I have a really difficult time finding sneakers that fit my wide toes and narrow heels without rubbing and causing blisters on my heels but these have been great. No break in period, no blisters, really comfortable even on days when I am walking miles all over the city. I appreciate the removable insole as I wear these with my custom orthotics. I had to buy these in an 8.5, which is what I wear in sneakers vs. 7/7.5 in flats, to accommodate the orthotic but they're still fine in my heel, even with invisible socks. Love these!

I like the look of these shoes, and they are much more comfortable than similar styles in other brands, since these have an arch support. However, they still aren't real comfy. You can feel the various canvas parts on the inside and I wouldn't wear them anywhere where I had to walk a lot. Cute to wear for a short time and better than similar shoes.

This shoe is really cute! However, it was really tight the first time I put it on. I wore the shoes for 8 hours and developed a blister. So, I took out the really hard insole and replaced it with a Dr Scholls insert. Problem solved. There is a lot more room in the Shoe and is so comfortable now that the insoles were replaced.

I debated on ordering a size up as suggested, but went with my usual size and happy I did. The fit was near perfect, one foot (always a tad bigger than the other) was a little snug across the toe box, but since the sneakers are canvas, they will give with with time. Because they need to mold and stretch to the foot, I plan on wearing them for a few hours at a time, not all day out of the box. For a pair of "tennies" these have great arch support; very comfortable. They look great with jeans and casual dresses. I ordered the washed denim blue as a "generic" color but they come in a wide range of colors to choose from. If the one foot stretches as I anticipate, I will order more colors.

Based on the reviews, I initially ordered three different Taos styles: Star, Moc Star and Plim Sole. This review is about the Star, which I decided to keep. I generally wear an 8 Medium, and I have moderate bunions, kind of flat feet and narrow heels, so finding a shoe that accommodates is key. Based on the reviews, I did order a half size up (8.5), which fit well. There is enough room in the toe box, and the heel fits nicely. The canvas is a bit stiff, but I was able to wear them all day out of the box with light socks. I could feel the interior canvas rub a bit along the top of my foot at the base of the toes, but the socks prevented any blisters. The arch support is great - much better than my Ecco Soft 7s. The grey wash color matches the online color. I hope they will soften up a bit, as I would like to wear them without socks. I'm pleased with the purchase.

The toe box was too wide and was very stiff at the bend - made it uncomfortable to walk. Returning.

Very disappointed. These are going back. Even at a half size larger, I can barely get my foot in. Toe box is low and narrow. These just won't work for me. Cute though.

Really cute with good support just too narrow at the toe box even with the wide. I ordered up a half size as recommended and the length seemed ok. Had to return.

These are terrific sneakers! Haven't bought any sneakers in years because of lack of support. I usually have to put orthotics in everything but not these Taos sneakers. They even make my size 10 feet look good! It's a miracle. I finally decided that since they were on sale for a great price to give them a try. Good decision on my part. One caveat: I usually wear a 10 but ordered a 10 1/2 because of reviews. They fit perfectly. Thanks to all the people who wrote accurate reviews.

I love these shoes. They look cute with jeans or denim shorts. This is my second pair. The first pair lasted about 2 1/2 years and then I wore through the heel like I do with a lot of my shoes. The sole is not very thick, but I like the fact that this sneaker is not too heavy. Recently, I've returned many other brands with inadequate arch support. These have just enough that I'm comfortable wearing them all day.
