Wore this shoe over 1 week on vacation and already the toe separated from the mesh top. Very disappointed. I am returning this shoe due to poor quality construction for a running shoe that was only used for walking.

New Balance is an excellent company, and has great shoes. these shoes (New Balance 1540v2) are not one of them. They immediately hurt my feet. i thought they would feel better after the break end period, but no luck. I'm still a fan of New Balance, but just not these shoes.

Way over priced for such a clunky unattractive shoe with no support.

I pronate heavily and these were recommended by the New balance customer service. These shoes’ fit really high’ and there is minimal heel retention, causing the heels of my feet to literally lift out of them every time I walk. Removing the laughingly minimalistic insoles and replacing them with my custom orthotics does not help at all.

Do not buy these shoes if you are active! Note the thin bottom soles of all New Balance shoes. I bought what I thought was the best that they had. Now, after only three months, this thin layer has already worn through under the heels, and I am faced with buying a new pair of shoes [not New Balance], or having my new shoes repaired. Grrrr!

The new 1540v2 are totally different the original 1540v1. I have extremely flat feet, have orthotic inserts for my shoes and need the support that motion control (roll bar) provides in the arch area. The original 1540v1 provided this support but the new 1540v2 does not and the reason is that the width in the arch area is approx. " shorter than the 1540v1. They just don't provide that support I need and is the reason they feel "funny" when walking. Sorry but I wouldn't recommend 1540v2 for people who have extremely flat feet.

I used to wear New Balance shoes all the time and then I switched out as my feet got wider. I have been having trouble finding a decent pair of run/walking shoes and so I thought I'd give NB a try again. Nope, this particular pair was fit correctly, but the sole has a very weird "break" and by that I mean where it bends, under the ball of my foot. It was probably the most uncomfortable shoe I've tried on in a long time. So back they went.

Best shoe in your lineup for GREAT support . .at 10.5 6E high arches, I need all the help I can get. Holds orthotics with room to spare. New pair every 6 months.

What happened to New Balance shoes? There used to be a time I wore nothing but New Balance and now I can't find a pair that fits or is comfortable for my wide feet. The 1540v2 is supposed to be the replacement for the 587 and while I found the toe box wide enough, the shoe rubbed along the big toe and was very uncomfortable. I also thought the support was lacking. Unfortunately these were returned and my search for a comfortable wide shoe with a wide toe box continues.

I have run a little over 35,000 miles since 2003. So as you can imagine I have gone through a lot of shoes. I've tried many different manufactures, styles etc.. These shoes in my opinion are the least cushioned shoes and the absolute flattest shoes I have ever run on the road with. The only pair that might even come close would be the Solomon XLT Wings which are designed for heavy trail use and which have I used them for 15k or so worth of mountain runs. These New Balance shoes I purchased, because my running has moved to a lesser mileage and mostly on the roads. They are way to stiff and have almost no flex in them, also the toe box is way to large so your feet have a little to much room to bunch up. I have not ever posted a review on a single pair of shoes, but felt these needed to be commented on. They reminded me of my first pair of running shoes in 2003 from Target which were $50.00 not this price.
