I like the black with gold zipper which is why I bought this but it's not the greatest backpack that ever lived. 1. It smells like a sharpie marker, had to put it outside to air it off, still has a faint smell. 2. The zipper is very sticky/hard to open and close. I ran a pencil all over it to get some graphite into the teeth which helped a bit but it's still hard to pull. 3. Wish it had a 2 way zipper so it could close and open from either side. It's a minor thing but still for the price I'd think they could use a better quality, more modern zipper. I almost returned it but I just need a backpack and black and gold is my favorite.

Love this backpack, but the main zipper tape was cut too short and not sewn into the seam. I have to be extra careful when opening to make sure the zipper doesn't fly off. There is also not even a zipper stop - WHY!? usually the zipper is sewn into the seam, and passed the seam as an extra security, the zipper has a proper stop at the end. This zipper tape didn't even make it to the seam, which is also causing frayed threads. I work for a garment company and construction is our main focus to make sure things don't fall apart! If the zipper was 1/4" longer it would have been sewn into the seam and i wouldn't have to babysit it when opening it. Herschel needs a lesson in seam allowance... Other than that, I love it. Just wish it was actually constructed to last longer than a month....

Be careful when ordering. Zappos does not seem to see the difference between color grey and grey 2. They have sent me two times grey color, instead of grey 2. I called and they will resend it again (third time) I hope this time is the grey 2 color. Zappos be very careful about the colors.

The zipper broke within a month. It does not close properly when I try to zip up the bag. I don't know if this is an issue with all Herschel's backpacks or whether I got a bad one. Definitely not ordering Herschel's backpacks again though.

I loved everything about this backpack! The size, the color, the styling and then the zipper broke after only 5 months of use. It splits 75% of the time and so I've finally given up on it. If they could fix that problem I would re-order but until then... Zappos was amazing and refunded me immediately. Great customer service and funny joke of the day! Thanks.

Nice looking bag but if you're considering it as a schoolbag, look elsewhere. The zipper looks industrial but isn't. After about 2 weeks of use, it was done.

This was what I thought would be my perfect backpack. Exactly the style I was looking for...simple, classic, sleek. And it was for about a week but then it started falling apart. I commute to work on my bike and use a backpack everyday for my laptop, gym clothes, bike lock, etc. After a week of commuting, the side seams started to split and the back pad was exposed. If you're looking for a backpack that can handle an average load, this probably isn't it. The quality just isn't up to par. I don't know if it was because of the laptop or what, but it definitely didn't hold up to everyday use for me.
