This is the newest addition to my collection of 8 pairs of Birkenstock Arizonas. Simply put, this shoe style is a treasrure of comfort and longlasting quality. Plus, you can send Birkenstock service centers your old, grubby-looking pairs and they will put on a new footbed. The turquoise of this model is more greenish blue than the photo (i.e., a true soft turquoise shade) and the "oiled leather" not as hard as that of the dark brown model. It's almost suede but not quite. My conventional shoe size is 8W, and the regular width Birki fits great. Highly recommended!

I ordered a pair of the oiled leather tobacco color and it came with a really off color, much lighter than what's pictured. So, I ordered two more pairs just see if I could get a color that looks like what's represented. Those pairs were darker, but they were both REALLY scuffed up on the straps. They don't appear to have been worn and I understand that leather gets marked up, but the amount that every one of the straps was marked up just didn't sit well with me. I haven't even tried them on and they're going to look beat up the first time I wear them? No thanks, I'm shipping them back. I'll shop for these in a bricks and mortar store where I can see what I'm getting, or, if they all look beat up I guess I'll get another color.

I am a long time wearer and lover of Birkenstocks. I finally convinced my husband to give them a try and bought him a pair of leather Arizonas. You really truly need to give these adequate "break in" time. But as everyone else has said once you do, they feel like they were made for your feet. I still have a like new looking pair of my own Arizonas that are 15 years old and still going strong. My ONLY negative feedback I could give these would be for the sizing. I have gotten used to sizing out kids shoes where many brands have a print out-able guide to step on and fit your size. Super convenient and nails what size and width you need. Birkenstock and Zappos do not have this. My husband has narrow feet and I was having a hard time deciding between regular or narrow. Imagine my surprise when his shoes arrived to see a nice image inside the box of exactly what I was looking for! Would have been helpful before buying them, not after! He ended up sizing perfectly for a narrow, so after an easy Zappos exchange he got the right shoes. So perfect shoes, but wish zappos included those cool guides. They're SO helpful.

This Arizona "oiled leather" is not oiled leather. It looks and feels like cardboard. It is not like the oiled leather of former shoes. And it's not black; it's a charcoal. grey.

Why do you keep sending shoes that have been returned, without tags, and in Amazon boxes? Full price should not be something used, worn, returned, or not in original packaging.

I’ve worn size 43 Birkenstocks for years. This pair seemed larger than previous pairs. Will try the 42s. As always, super comfortable and supportive sandals!

I've had several pairs of Birkenstock sandals over the years, including the Arizona style, but the leather on these was just too stiff and uncomfortable. The upper strap rubs against the top of my foot and makes it very uncomfortable to walk. This pair just wasn't meant for me! ????

Hello - I was a really disappointed with the "scratch" look. My sister received the same pair last year and hers were beautiful and she just confirmed, hers looked nothing like this.

This is my second pair of Birkenstock Arizonas. This first pair lasted for 7-8 years so they’re definitely worth the price. I was a little worried about how the oiled leather would stand up with daily wear, like getting scratched, but I haven’t had any issues and I like the oiled leather better than the smooth leather.

The breaking in time is so much less than my other styles of Birkenstocks. After the 2nd wear they were completely broke in. Love love love these Birk's so much that this is my 2nd pair in 1 month.

I read all the reviews. Very confusing. A lot of talk about width, too wide, too narrow,'farting sounds'. Enough, already. I am female and wear size 9 medium. The Arizona fit is true to size - EU40 is a U.S. 9, period end of story. The straps can be adjusted if you want. My foot fits in the footbed. The arch support is just right. Shoe places my foot, leg and back in alignment. No break-in. Straps are secure and sturdy; feet stay in the shoe unless I want to slip them off. Hint: Merrill(sp?) don't fit me. If you are a high maintenance girl with slim feet, perhaps you should give them or Naot a try. I like these and am ordering another pair in case these negative reviews drive Birkenstock to discontinue the style. Beautiful? I think not. Do you want a reliable shoe or a fashion statement? You make the call.
I'd also recommend:

I’m normally a 8.5 or on occasion, a size 9. I seem to land right in the middle of 39 and 40 in Birks. After a few attempts, I think the 40 fits best as my toes just hit the rim on the 39’s. I’m judging by the fit for my right foot. The 39’s actually fit better for my left foot. But Birkenstock says to go by the fit of your right foot. I’ve tried both soft footbed and regular. I love them both but fit is essential. I got the oiled leather in tobacco and they feel great right out of the box! The leather is soft on the tops of my feet and don’t cut into the skin. I don’t feel like there will be a lot of breaking in. I love them! Total keepers!

These are replacement Birkenstocks for a well worn beloved pair. The old pair are a 37 (regular, although when I bought them they didn't call them that because there was no slim). Zappos suggested a 38, quite reasonably, since I usually wear a 7.5. Maybe my feet had gotten bigger? The Birkenstocks had stretched? Both true, I'm sure. I dithered. But I went with the 37 regular and they fit perfectly.

These Birkenstocks are perfect! I am a very solid women’s 8 1/2 and bought a 39 in the Arizona. My foot is not narrow and tends to be a bit wide although I always wear a medium width shoe. I bought the tobacco and was going to return for the darker color but that one was too dark for my taste. I rubbed mink oil into them and they darkened up just enough.... I haven’t stopped wearing them yet and bought some fun socks to wear with them for the cold weather!

I decided to spring for the real leather Birkenstocks because they are worth it. Buy them. Before buying the real leather I tried the Birko-Flor synthetic which costs less and has more color options, but the lining fabric just does not feel good against the tops of your feet the way real leather does. Plus based on the feel I expect they will wear out quicker since they are synthetic, so you really do get what you pay for. FYI ladies: I have long toes and wear 11.5 in women's shoes. Birkenstocks recommends size 42 for women 11-11.5 but I found 42 to be too small because my toe pushed up against the lip of the shoe bed. I ended up with size 43 Narrow; it is the best fit for women with a larger shoe size. Size 43 and up is considered "men's sizes" on most websites, but unless your feet are quite wide I think you will happier with Narrow width since our feet are usually more slender than men's. Plus they're cuter when you look down at them. :-) For sizes 42 and lower, I recommend Regular width unless you have narrow feet. Good luck!

I consistently wear US size 10. The recommended size 43 was too large. I returned those for size 42 which is a good fit. It's my first pair of Birkenstocks and I like them but the style is pretty clunky compared with flip flops I've been wearing for a long time.

Have been wanting these sandals for a long long time. Currently 8 months pregnant and was finally able to justify because I need something that can just slip onto my feet without bending over. Have been wearing them around the house for the past 2 weeks to break them in. So comfortable and are molding to my footbed perfectly. I'm a size 11 women's and ordered both the soft footbed and regular footbed to see which was more comfortable. The soft footbed fit more narrow and had more cushion to start. I ultimately decided on the regular footbed because of other reviews suggesting they would last longer and conform to my foot better. Plus I believe I would have had to size up w/the soft footbed because they do run slightly shorter. Overall I am super pleased with my new sandals and look forward to living in them this summer!

My feet are a 7B with low arches. Following the calculations: add 31 to your size and the narrow fits A-B, I purchased a 38N. This didn’t work for me because my foot completely filled the width (see photo). Per the Birkenstock website, my foot measurements (240 mm length and 96mm width) is a 37R. This aligns with other reviewers’ recommendations. Crossing my fingers!

I have several pair of Arizona’s and they have gone from not needing a break in period to a few wearings. These KILL me. The underside of the buckle was very stiff and gave me a blister. Very disappointed

I really wanted to like these sandals. I've had some off brand sandals that were this same style but they aren't as well made as these are. The problem I had with these is maybe more of an issue with me than the sandal. I have wide flat feet and these sandals weren't too narrow but they were a little too narrow for my liking. The bigger issue was that they have way too much arch support in my opinion as a person with flat feet. As I wore them they just dug into the middle of my foot causing more pain than comfort.

My daughter and I both ordered a pair of these shoes - they are supposed to look distressed, but one pair of the shoes literally looked like two different colors of shoes in the same box. If you like this look, I'd suggest ordering 2 pairs and hope that one will look like they match. Otherwise, this is the iconic Birkenstock - the footbed is a little stiff - if you like more give, consider the soft footbed.

I ordered two pairs of these, one a size bigger than I usually wear and the other two sizes bigger, because I understood that they run small. It didn't help. The problem is that these sandals are not proportioned for all feet. They seem to be proportioned for people with long toes and a shorter instep. The toe ridge is too far back: I had more than an inch and a half (4 cm) of extra room in the front, but my heels hit the back edge and were not "cupped." I tried an even bigger size and had even more extra room in the front (another 1 cm, totalling 5 cm) whereas the back was maybe a millimeter longer. And the so-called "narrow" is cut for medium-width feet, not narrow feet. I put the buckles on their tightest holes, but then the sandals just rubbed and hurt, but did not keep my feet from moving side-to-side: No stability there! So, a "fail" in two directions. Also: The two pairs I received were not in authentic Birkenstock boxes but rather in generic brown cardboard boxes, and did not have tags attached. Thus, there was no way to prove they were even authentic (or new). After paying full price, customers should have the pleasure of the "unboxing" ritual (check any number of online videos to see how important this is). Even on eBay, things in their original boxes command much higher prices than things that aren't. So, yet another fail -- but this one on the part of Zappos.

Stylish —- but not the typical Birkenstock fit. The footbed feels like plastic, the shoes squeak when you walk. And the black leather stains your feet. I would not recommend.
