Been wearing the Reef (Brazil) Convertible since 1992 and have never found a better sandal. Easy to slip on and off and extremely comfortable.

My favorite current sandals, sadly discontinued - Years ago, it used to be a lot easier to find sandals with a design like this - all black, straight-across (not diagonal) straps, a strap that wraps around the heel for a very solid fit, and a quick-on/quick-off design using either a snap-in clasp (as with the Convertible) or a velcro strap that wraps around the ankle without going through a buckle that requires pulling the lower part to create enough slack to get your foot in and out. First, I lost my snap-based sandals (bought around a decade ago) to mold and then the wrap-around-strap ones I bought in Hawaii to replace them (Kam Kasuals brand) finally fell apart. I was ecstatic to find the Reef Convertible, but unfortunately waited a little too long to buy it once it'd been discontinued. Luckily it apparently wasn't discontinued as recently in the U.K. and I was able to find a few sellers that still had it in my size in all black. It was a little expensive to import from the U.K., but it was worth it. These sandals are great. The snap clasp is not as large or easy to operate as those old sandals and it doesn't close with as satisfying a snap, so it seems like it might come open during frenzied foot activity, but it makes these a great choice for quick-on/quick-off (yet won't-fall-off) shoes to keep by the door for little sojourns outside. It's great how you can customize the fit on these as well. My only issue with them is that the arch support is a little high for my flat feet. Hopefully it'll compress down somewhat over time. Anyhow, if you wear one of the few sizes of these that Zappos still has available, I can highly recommend them. Please note that I wear a US 10.5, so interpret my "felt a half size smaller than marked" for the 11s (well, actually labeled as a UK 10) accordingly.

I'm severely bummed by this product. I used to have a pair of Reef's like them several years back, but I cannot find quite the same model so I bought these. They are very similar, except for one fatal flaw in the design: the heel strap fastens on the outside of the foot instead of the inside. With my old Reef's, which were functionally identical except for this difference, I would leave the rear strap undone most of the time. This made it easy to slip the sandals on and off like a flip-flop. Plus the clicking of the strap fasteners would let everyone know what a cool slacker I am, and it would keep people from being surprised at my sudden presence due to my ninja skills. When the going got serious, I could flip my leg up into my lap, fasten the heel strap, and make a quick getaway. Now, with the strap fastening on the outside, all this is ruined. Leaving the strap off means stepping on the straps, making it impossible to use the sandals with flip-flop convenience. Worse, you have to contort yourself to get at the fastener which you can't even see, making an inconvenient product even more so. I'm guessing the product testing was done on flexible Capoeira masters, who likely fastened the strap with a dancing leg sweep, or perhaps with a strong look. I, however, currently lack that skill. Worst of all, I am again accidentally sneaking up on old ladies with my ninja-like silence. I'm referring all wrongful death torts to Reef, Inc. Bottom line: a careless decision has made an awesome product sucky and is now giving old ladies heart attacks (in the bad way). Otherwise this product gets five stars.

Zappos had what I wanted. The sandals were easy to find on their web site. The price was good. Shipping was free and fast. I am very pleased with Zappos and have recommended them to several friends.

Very comfortable sandals. Easy to adjust light weight. As always Zappo's service and quick shipping is light-years ahead of other companies.

Oldies but goodies - These are the old-school sandals that I love- and thankfully Zappos still carries. They are my favorites because I can walk in them for longer distances than regular flip-flops, but they're also easy to get on and off.

Sandals buying - I loved shopping at Zappos.com. The process was so easy and I received my purchase so quickly. I would totally recommend using their web site; it will be my first choice when I am looking for shoes.

Reef Convertible, My third pair - I love them all over again. I wear them almost constantly during the summer months. This is my third pair and each previous pair lasted about 10 years so I've been wearing them for a long time. The new ones just keep getting better. My clasps were a bit problematic at first, they let go for no reason the first few times I wore them, but they are working fine now and they are VERY comfortable. I sure hope Reef is still making the convertible in 2016 when I will undoubtedly need a new pair or should I buy another now and save them in the safe deposit box??? Kudos to Reef!

The Reef Convertible has come a LONG way... I remember owning a pair of these 16 or 17 years ago (of course, they were a much less evolved version). Reef has updated the classic sandal that made their brand popular 17 years ago, by adding a soft cushion bottom that features a contoured arch and hugs the heel which makes for better support. Also, BOTH of the cross straps are now adjustable, not the toe strap. And, the heel strap has a nice foam piece that prevents friction from it against your Achilles tendon. How nice. These sandals weren't for me, but rather my roommate. I still have my old Reefs (no, not the originals from close to two decades ago; I've had a couple pairs since then) which aren't nearly as cushiony, comfortable and adjustable as these. These are great! A true classic great for water activities that require footwear that won't fall off.

I recently replaced my pair of 15 year old Reef Convertibles with a new pair. While I generally like the features and comfort of this model sandal, one glaring and unwelcome change stands out. Some brilliant designer made the very stupid decision to move the the ankle strap release to the outside of the sandal, instead of the inside. When you are putting on this sandal, it is much more difficult to insert the strap into the clasp on the outside of the sandal, compared to the inside - which is the way the older version was designed. This is easy to see why - if you need to reach down to secure something on your foot, its much easier to bring the inside of your foot (the side facing the other foot) towards you, then trying to reach for the outside. What Einstein at Reef decided to move the location of the strap clasp to the outside?

These are lazily designed sandals that just happen to work. Flat but oh-so-soft bottom with a few straps to keep it on your feet. It's got some quirks: my heel kind of steps on the beginning of the strap, and it feels just a tad too thick, like I'm wearing platform sandals, but nothing that really detracts from the comfort. They're cheap too!

I love the fact that if the item or items that I bought did not fit I can send them back. (no questions asked). The items that I bought always got here earlier then I had expected/

Straightforward, comfy, sandal at a decent price. Great for the spring & summer heat as well as for the river. Not a sandal for hiking long distances or rocky terrain.

Very comfortable to wear with really good cushioning. I will buy another pair when the grey tops are available. My only hope (as with a few other reviewers) is the the buckle would be easier if on inside but that won't stop me from getting more.

I am very satisfied. My husband found himself on vacation a few years ago and had packed two left sandals. Hence, we went shopping and bought a pair or Reefs. They have been his favorites for a decade or so, but they now needed replacement. So far, so good. They are comfortable, stable and sturdy. They are also good in water.

These are extremely light and very comfortable, but not very attractive. The straps appear much thinner in the picture than they seem in reality. If you were going to wear them somewhere that appearance wasn't too important, I think they'd be great (for example: to the river). If you're looking for something to wear out in public, you might want to reconsider, unless giant black straps don't bother you.

The price and straps were what I wanted, but the back clamp fastener is a mistake: Very hard to engage it after my foot is in place. Why not just have a velcro close on the arch strap, and eliminate the clamp? PLEASE!

I was so happy to see these reappear, however the snap is now on the outside of the foot, whereas the inside is easier to reach and snap. Plus, as some else said the snap is not as easy as it was in the old model, clearly Fernando doesn't wear these or he would not have allowed these errors.

Same great style and velcro but disappointingly cheap flimsy soles, not like reef used to be in the 90s. Time to find another brand that cares about quality.

I had a pair of these several years ago, and they were great. These are too, except the latch has been moved to the outside, making it VERY inconvenient to put them on.

I bought a pair of Reefs several years ago in Hawail. GREAT SANDALS! These, however, are NOT the same. They are NOT comfortable, they size-adjust with straps but grudgingly, they do NOT have a decent arch support, AND THEY ARE POORLY MADE. I doubt they'd last a year. At the cost, they are severely overpriced. My advice buy another brand!
