I have worn these arch supports for over 15 years and have only had to purchase 2 sets. I have been a Physical Therapist in the US military for over 20 years, have seen over 50,000 patients and I run a chronic pain rehab program. These arch supports are what I recommend for all my patients to be worn in their combat boots, running shoes, and dress shoes. I recommend that you only purchase 1 set and use them in all your shoes...this prevents loss. I have ordered and prescribed almost all other arch supports known to the industry and can honestly say don't waist your time trying to find the best one...it has already been made. Think about this...Birkenstock has been making shoes since 1774 and that is longer then the USA has been a nation! That is over 240 years of German engineering and you can't get much better then that! FYI...I do not own stock in Birkenstock or sell their products, I just want to help people feel better and stop wasting their money on other arch supports.
I'd also recommend:

I tried a bunch of 3/4 length insoles to put in my flats that don't have removable footbeds, so I'm writing this review to hopefully spare someone else the pain of returning half a dozen insoles...the 'narrow' version of this insole was the winner. I ordered two versions, the 'normal' and 'narrow', and ended up returning the 'normal' width because it was slightly too wide to fit in most of my flats (Sam Edelman, Nine West, JCrew, etc) though it frankly felt better on my foot. My feet are on the wide side of normal, and I usually wear a regular width shoe (some shoes just are too narrow). I have a normal-to-high arch, and a bit of what I think is plantar fasciitis.

I have osteoarthritis severely in the metatarsal bones in one foot. My expensive shoes such as Stuart Weitzman and Donald Pliner were getting unbearable to wear with not enough arch support. Danskos were great, but I sometimes want something with a little more pizazz. These inserts were the answer. I am not completely pain free, but at least I can walk now after wearing my non-arch shoes for the day with these inserts. These inserts fit very nicely into almost any shoe, versus other inserts that make the shoe tight. These work with every pair of shoes I have. I have bought another set so I am not pulling out of shoes as often.

I have been using these footpads for 20 years and have them in all my shoes, boots, and sneakers. They give me the arch support I need. They dry out quickly if they get wet. They maintain their shape (critical given their function). They are light and retain no odor. They are worth their weight in gold, almost.

Great support, but be careful of size. I wear size 36 berks, but the 36 inserts are too small.

I seem to get plantar fascitis if I don't wear these inserts or my regular collection of Birkenstocks! I ordered a pair of the blue inserts a full size smaller than I usually wear and they fit perfectly inside my shoes such as regular flats, ballet flats, and sneakers. I am able to stand on my feet and walk miles with these inserts!

I have tried various brands/types of arch supports with disappointment. Even though pricey for my fixed income, I ordered and so glad I did. Wow, what a difference; I can now wear my flat shoes with comfort. I am 72 with failing health; Osteoarthritis consuming my legs & feet. I felt despair as my arches began to fail me. My normal size in all shoes is 7 M however I have a narrow, thin foot so I ordered Size S in this and it is perfect. Thanks Zappos for the best service ever. (I have never worn Birkenstock shoes).

These are great for extra arch support in tennis shoes. I just slide them under the provided insole which makes it more comfortable than placing them on top of the insole. I wear a narrow in Birkenstock shoes, but I need a regular width in the arch support insole.

This is a stiff insole with a good arch support. Although, since it was 3/4 length, the front of the insole hit me right below the forefoot and was not comfortable. I would go up in size to see if I could get one that would be long enough to go under my forefoot and still have the arch in the right spot. I returned the ones I ordered but want to try to order some bigger ones.

These Arch Supports allow me to walk and dance without pain. I do a lot of dancing and I had an injury recently. I thought I'd never be able to walk or dance without pain again, but thanks to Birkenstock and this great product, I now have no problems. I highly recommend these! I wear them daily.

I started working after a five year break to stay home with my son. My job consists of standing up to eight hours at a time, on concrete. After my first full week back, I almost could not walk because my feet and back hurt so badly when I was done working. I went to a local shoe store, where I was fitted with these arch supports. After a week of wearing them, I was virtually pain free when I went home at the end of the day. Two months later, I would not give these up for anything and would highly recommend them to anyone.

Good for plantar fasciitis. Provide great arch support. However, they provide no padding. As I currently wear only running shoes (which provide good padding) I don't need padding in my arch support anyway. So these Birks work wonderfully for me.

I have not been able to use these arch supports. Maybe it is because my feet are small, but they don't seem to hit in the right place and after wearing them my feet and ankles hurt. I have pronation from a broken foot, and have to have support, but these didn't work for me.

These inserts are a game-changer for me! I use them in all of my shoes (except my Birks), and it eliminates my foot pain. Love them!! Because of the steep price, I just have one pair that I swap out, depending on my shoe choice of the day. Takes one minute and saves money. I've been able to use these in a variety of shoe styles with no issue. True to size for me.

I suggest ordering more than one size to get the proper fit. I wear a size 40 in most Birkenstock and they feel awesome. I have this size in the arch support but it hurts my feet when I wear them. I've suffered with PF for years and can't find comfort. Once again I decided to try these again. This time I ordered 2 sizes down from my normal size in this style and the sport style. These won in a size smaller. The 39's are the best I'll found as of date. I hope they continue to provide some comfort.

Feels like a foot massage while walking! I have two pairs of Birkenstock sandals that I exclusively wear in the summer because they’re the only shoes that allow me to stand and walk without my feet hurting. But in the fall/winter I cannot wear sandals. I have just been suffering with no arch support through the winter. I have collapsing arches so when I buy shoes without support, I end up getting pain in the center of my foot just underneath my toes and in the arches after standing for as little as 30 minutes. Not anymore! These insoles provide arch support and support in the center of my foot right where it hurts! When I’m walking, these supports feel like a foot massage. I could not be happier with this product. It is exactly what I needed. I can now turn all of my shoes into Birkenstocks!

I have neuromas in both feet and these really take the pressure off. They fit inside most shoes, except heels and they are very sturdy. I just ordered my second pair after about 8 years wearing the 1st. Expensive, but worth it.

My husband has totally flat feet. He has had several pairs of custom orthotics over the years. We found these footbeds about 7 years ago, and he now uses them exclusively. They never really wear out, he still uses his original ones occasionally. But once in a while we get a new pair. My daughter's wedding was two weeks ago, and a few days before it was scheduled, I thought of my husband's new shoes, and decided to try and find a new pair of Footbeds. The first place I looked was right here at Zappos, and lo and behold, there they were! I ordered them at 5 PM, they were at my door at 10 the next morning. How can anyone argue with that? I spent 2 minutes of my time, and no gas to get exactly what I needed in lightning speed! Zappos rocks!

Uncomfortable...I think I’m the only one that found these uncomfortable. It felt like a ball was under the middle of my foot.

Bought the narrow size and they fit perfectly in my shoes and sneakers. Got the athletic full length in medium width and I am having a tough time placing them in any shoes. Will probably return those.Haven’t worn this much yet, but them seem like they will work well. Right now I am wearing the Birkenstock sandals. recommend trying the narrow width if you don’t have a wide shoe.

I absolutely LOVE these!. I have been wearing them for years-inserting them in all sorts of shoes to get extra arch support and also tremendous benefit for knees. They don't fit in all my shoes and boots, and not in many dress shoes, but when they do fit, in they go. The deep heel cup keeps the heel firmly in place and knees and hips properly aligned over the ankle. I cannot recommend these enough.

These were the best over-the-counter orthotics I've ever seen. I hated to return them, but I had to because they were too hard a surface for my feet, but I have a particular medical problem that contributed to that. I was dying to keep them, because 1) best fit of any I've tried, 2) really easy to move from shoe to shoe, 3) far and away best arch support. If they had a slightly cushioned version, I'd be buying it and using it every day!

I had heels spurs and once I got my heel better (8 months later!) I started buying better quality shoes and these insoles. I have worn them for 9 years and the Birkenstock shoes. They may cost more they the other insoles you buy in a drug store but they are worth it!

I bought this for my 31 year old son who inherited my flat feet and was having plantar whatchamacallit problems like I used to have, before I came upon these Birkenstock insoles 12 years ago. I've been using them ever since, shifting them between shoes, My son's response was: "The arches are working great. I wear them all the time in my sneakers that I wear to work and I haven't really noticed any arch pain since putting them in. My heels have been a little sore in the past week but my feet are doing a lot better than a month ago." They cost a bit, but it beats spending $400 for custom-made orthopedic inserts, and these things last for years.

Worth every penny. I put these in all my shoes including my MBT's. Have tried many different kinds and these work the best for me. I have very bad arthritis and excessive pronation.
