I have these Birki's Professional Clogs in Black. They're comfortable and the insets are washable. I recommend washing the inserts with woolite in a gentle cycle. I take a brush to the sole of the shoe and wash all of it with soapy water. These are great when you're on your feet a lot or need to change up your footwear. Because they don't breath, put them out in the sun, to kill any smell. Now, some people complain about the large size and the fit in general. The reason why they are having problems, is not because of anything wrong that Birkenstock has done, but because they don't know how to fit them properly. For all the Birki clogs and Crocs clogs, -by the way, you should have your feet in the center of the shoe. Your toes should not touch the front, your arch should not touch the sides, and your heels should not touch the back. You should be able to comfortably move your toes, arch your feet, etc. This is the proper way these types of clogs should be fitted. Yes there is a learning curve on how to walk in these when they wear larger than other shoes, but once you learn to walk in them, your toe grip will be improved and your leg muscles will activate, while your arch strengthens. After about two weeks of regular wear; you'll love them and will most likely feel your back problems go away. You'll stand straighter and taller. You'll be able to kick of your shoes after work and put these babies on and head right out to the deck to grill. After a year of wearing these and other healthful clogs and sandals, you should even see you foot structure improve. You'll have healthier, more attractive, and stronger feet.

I have been wearing these at work for a few months and I have to give them a thumbs up. I bartend 12-15 hour shifts at a busy bar and do not take any breaks. I am on my feet all day and these shoes have remained comfortable through even the longest days. Recently, we have had trouble with floor drains and I have spent a lot of time working on wet floors and sometimes in standing water of an inch or two. It was not a good time, but my feet stayed dry and I did not slip much. They are ugly as sin, so I do not know about the folks who wear them around the house or at their own wedding, but behind a bar where no one can really see my feet I am good with them.

Love the shoe - These are great shoes in many respects. They are a breeze to keep clean. I spent 10-12 hours a day in a commercial kitchen 5-6 days a week. I have 3 other pair of Burks but for what I do this is the best pair. I love Burks and they are basically the only shoe I wear. My legs don't burn and my feet don't hurt at the end of the day. They don't slip on water and I like the look. Your feet do tend to sweat a little more. I have worn them with and without socks. At the end of the day the socks come off. Both ways are fine. I didn't notice an odor with the extra sweating. I possess hobbit feet, very wide and flat. The shoes fit me great. I didn't order a size down like other reviews suggested, that was the right choice. If your feet are exta wide and tend to swell order your normal size.

Do not waste your money on these. I work at a hospital and these are the most uncomfortable shoe I have ever worn. I went back to my old Crocs because these shoes rubbed blisters on my feet and my feet were always sore. I gave them 2 weeks and they never "broke in". Overall, this shoe did not meet my expectations. They are expensive and I feel I just wasted my money, when I could have went and bought a new pair of Crocs for much less money. I do walk a lot at work, so to be fair... maybe these shoes aren’t made for lots of walking.

I owned a pair of these in black for over 10 years, never had a problem, very comfortable, durable. I am a trauma nurse and have gotten into everything. The insoles are easy to wash and replace. The shoe holds up to all kinds of abuse, wheels rolling over them, things crashing on them, etc. They have definitely saved my feet over the years. Now I have the skull clogs and everyone loves them! Buy these!

I love these shoes! I bought the pirate ones to wear at my wedding under my dress. They are 100% me and I can't wait to wear them on my big day! I had to hide them away in the closet so I won't be tempted to wear them before September! These shoes are so comfortable. I wore them for about an hour when they came in the mail. They do feel loose around your feet, but I didn't feel like they were going to slip off.

I’m a nurse in busy NYC, I stand on my feet for long hrs, sometime well over 12hrs. These shoes have a Loose and were perfect for me! My feet usually swell after standing and moving around all day, I usually wear sneakers but I needed something different. These shoes are water proof, easy to clean, I can remove the insoles and wash the inside and out and dry off immediately. My birkis are so comfortable and yes they are big & roomy but cute!(I am very fashion forward). I ordered a size down originally and it was too exact and actually started rubbing my toes immediately, didn’t get to wear them but exchanged for my usual size 8 or (39) and they fit beautifully! Love my new Birkis!! Definitely recommend!

I have been using this pair for about two years. Still looks brand new. My feet do not even hurt after working 10 hour shifts. What a great buy. Great arch support. Loved the wide width.

There is nothing better than the Birkinstock Professional clog when it comes to working in a kitchen. 14 hour days without sore feet or legs and at the end of the shift you can send the shoes through the dish machine. Average life of these shoes for me is 2 years. This is pair number four for me, and I will never switch as long as they keep making them.

clogs forever CLOGS I am a travel writer and need to exist in any climate, weather and social circumstance with ONE pair of shoes. I finally found the perfect pair for my feet (but not high class social situations). Pro: Why do I like them? P1. Perfect fit. Technically they are probably too big, but I don't care what any podiatrist might say. I know what *feels* good. P2. They are funny shoes. I feel like a clown wearing them (see con!) P3. They are 100% waterproof (but see con). P4. My feet breathe. May people ask me 'Aren't your feet hot?' (I am in Bangkok). Quite the opposite. My feet are cool - perhaps one size 'too big' helps. P5. They are very comfortable. In any other pair of shoes, including other Birks, I feel like a prisoner. P6. They start conversations with German travelers I meet in S.E. Asia and beyond. P7. Although supposedly one is supposed to wear ankle supporting boots or athletic shoes while hiking I walk mountain paths in mine, and have never a problem as long as the incline is not too steep. P8. The insoles are replaceable when they wear out. P9. The insoles are dryable when they get wet (and they do) P10. I can wear them with or without socks. P11. The grip on the soles is very good. After about a year though they are nothing special. Con: Why do I not like them? C1. My pair are green - not exactly standard male attire. Singapore does not sock conservative colours like dark brown. C2. Because they are healthy natural shows they cast me as a hippie. C3. Because they look like work shoes and have no status appeal they do not appeal to females looking for a breadwinner. C4. The insoles wore out in less than a year. Maybe this is normal. In Singapore, which is probably where I will get my next pair, insoles cost over 20% of the price of the clogs they fit. C5. They are waterproof only on the bottom. They are not boots and they are not intended for walking in swamps. If it is pouring rain your feet will get very wet. C6. They are expensive (but I have worn one pair of shoes for over two years - so per day they are not expensive). C7. Frequently I get stones in them. I presume this is because they are open shoes. C8. They are very hard to find in Asia outside of metropolises such as Singapore and Hong Kong. C9. They are very expensive for a plastic pair of shoes. It is very frustrating to see gardening clogs in Thai superstores for a fraction of the cost of these - from China I believe. But they are too narrow and the plastic is definitely softer. I know because I tried them on. I have also heard of knock-offs being sold in Australia for AUS$20 . But who knows how good they are for durability and comfort? Conclusion: Curiously I have bought and worn other Birks and been very unhappy with them - I felt like my feet were being tortured. I am not willing to 'wear in' any shoes. They must be immediately comfortable and stay that way. These clogs are very different. I can only suggest that anyone considering buying them might want to try a size bigger than usual. I have a high instep, narrow heel and wide at the toes. If you are somebody who doesn’t care what people think, if you insist on comfort, and if like me you got tired of stubbing your toes on third world sidewalks - these shoes are a godsend.

Shoe Lover - I like shoes so well, when I founded this par of shoes at a garage sale I didn't know what they were. My daughter-in-law came over to visit, and saw me with them on and said, Birkenstocks' I said "what?" and she repeated "Birkenstock's!" These old thihgs, I paid twenty-five cent for them. She said thoes shoes cost eighty dollars, I been wearing them everyday since and I love them! They are very comforable they always say somebody junk is someone treasure.

Culinary Pros *Get These* I've been in the foodservice bis 20+ years. I've laughed at the NEW kids with the clogs on. I've suffered back pain, slipped on the usual floor crap, I've worn out 10 pairs of the usual shoes in one year, never mind stinkfoot. Three words describe the Birki pros: comfort, durabilaty, did I say comfort? I beat the heck out of mine on a daily basis, then wipe them off and start the next day. Yes, I do like them. Sizing is a little large, you do not want a snug fit, you might need to kick them off.

culinaryschool - I am in culinary school, and needed professional shoes for a working enviroment. Because you need to wear socks, the white athletic type, I suggest getting a size or (2) bigger. They will mold to your feet anyway. I normally wear a 37 when buying sandals or clogs, but with the socks and being on my feet sometimes 12 hours in a hot kitchen, I opted for the 39. Great shoe, get them bigger, your back, knees, and feet will thank you!

These shoes are very comfortable but they definitely run a full size bigger. I didn’t believe other reviews and ordered my regular size, then ordered one size smaller, which still seemed a little loose on me, so I ordered two sizes smaller. While the shoe that was two sizes smaller fit okay, I could definitely tell they were not right for me because (if you know Birkenstocks) the insert is formed to fit your instep and toes, and the insert was definitely not lining up for me. I sent the two others back and settled on the shoe that is one size smaller and have been happy ever since. Also, I was hoping to wear these shoes without socks, but have found they fit better and are more comfortable with socks. Keep in mind that these are not running shoes; they are for standing in the kitchen or doing other things that are not going to require sprinting around. I ordered the blue ones and some friends made fun and called them Smurf shoes. I took it as a compliment.

After reading all the reviews I finally bought a pair. I'm and professional Chef and I’m on my feet longer that I care to admit. True, buy one full size smaller; but I have to say that these clogs are very wide. I have the clog shuffle thing down but still find that my feet swim in these. They would be great if they had more cushioning. I own another pair of pro-style clogs (not Birkenstocks) and they are heads above these for comfort. They will be my back-up shoes in the kitchen.

I am a nurse so I only wear these to walk inside the hospital. They have never been worn anywhere else. Somehow they still split up the middle. The shoe is very loose on me so it isn’t that it was tight. I would not recommend these shoes. Quality is not worth the price.

I typically wear a 7.5 in shoes and I ordered the Size 38 which fit perfectly. I work three twelve hour shifts and do a lot of walking. These shoes are amazing! I used to have foot pain after a shift, but once I started wearing these the pain stopped.

Love this shoe! I work in the nursery industry, and this shoe keeps my feet both dry and comfortable. In the dry season when I am watering plants and making puddles... no problem, my feet are dry and comfy. In the rainy season when there is water everywhere... no problem, my feet are dry and comfy. I have been wearing these as work shoes for about six years now, and I my only regret is that I didn't discover them sooner. Having been in this business for over 30 years, I had ruined alot of pairs of my regular Birks. No sizing problems. I always use the same size in whatever style of Birks I wear. Love this shoe!

Very comfortable - I found Zappo's to be very efficient and eager to please. I needed to switch a pair of shoes and it was no big problem. I enjoyed doing business with them and will use this site again. The shoes are top-notch and the true thing. They are quick on shipping.

No other option - There is no other option than using Zappos for your shoe needs, and there is no other choice for comfort than birkenstock clogs. I have worked in a kitchen for 8 years on my feet 12 hours a day and I have finally found a shoe I can stay comfortable in all day.

Nice for Rain!! I bought this shoe to have something to wear in the rain or wet weather. Maybe I could have bought something less expensive, but this shoe provides real foot comfort and is perfect to wear outside on bad days, or kick on when you run to the grocery store. I'm very happy with them.

Perfect! These clogs have the greatest comfort! Their plastic look is great in the rain or snow, and they start plenty of conversations. I highly recommend these clogs! Plus, they're great for casual or professional. My favorite pair of shoes, by far.

Unfortunately, I had to return the clogs, as they were about one size too large. I was a bit surprised, as in the past my shoe size has not varied. The only reason I gave the comfort and overall appearance 3 stars was simply because they were too big. However, I am certain had I ordered the right size my evaluation would be different. I am a chef, so they would work perfectly in a professional kitchen.

For some reason, these shoes felt really big. Additionally, I overlooked the fact that the insole was polyurathane which wasn't a complete deal breaker until I tried walking in them. The insole was slippery inside of the shoe, so with each step my foot went back and forth inside of the shoe. I've never experienced this with Birkenstock before and won't be purchasing any of their products with a polyurathane insert again.
