I would give these zero stars if possible. I buy roughly 2-3 pair of Johnston and Murphy shoes per year and wear them daily. I have always been satisfied for the price point of the shoe. This pair was shipped with a protruding staple/nail sicking through the bottom of the shoe. There is nothing worse than sliding on a fresh pair of shoes as you walk out the door in the morning only to slice open and puncture your big toe. With this level of negligence, I would recommend not purchasing this product.

Excellent Shoe! I wore my 1st pair pretty much everyday for 5 years. Once you break them in fantastic shoe.

I have had these shoes for over 8 years. I wear dress shoes 6 days a week and these are my top pick out of the three I have. They are on their second sole and will get their third soon. They veal leather is supportive, soft and durable. They might cost a little more, but are going to last at least a decade of regular use if you take care of them.

I have had these shoes for about 2 months. The soles are already wearing out. I already have a hole in the bottom of one of the shoes and the other is wearing out quickly. I paid quite a bit of money for these thinking they would last a long time and they did not.

This shoe is amazing, tried it on as soon as it got here and was instantly impressed with how comfortable and stylish they looked. Shifted my entire posture so I stand more comfortably, which is great, because I am on my feet 8 hours a day, every day just about. Thank you Zappos for the prompt delivery and processing!

Great shoes for my wedding. I have a wide foot so ordered E in 10.5. The shoe definitely ran larger in both width and length and I had to return. Got a 10 in D and this pair fits like a glove. These shoes look amazing and were a very classy pair for my wedding. I will wear them with a suit to work now too. Also, Zappos customer service and return policy is awesome.

I bought both colors of these shoes for my son-in-law. He wears orthotics which fit into the shoes well. Thanks to Zappos for carrying sizes 16EEE, which are almost impossible to find anywhere else. He is completely satisfied. Thank you Zappos!

I bought this shoes for my husband. The shoes are stiff when new, but they aren't uncomfortable like others he has had. He likes the tongue being sewn in on one side. It really keeps it from sliding. They are very sharp looking.

Good Shoes - I wear a 13 narrow and have trouble finding comfortable shoes. These are good fitting and look great. My complaint is that they need a little breaking in. As for Zappos, you can't do better than them for shoes or anything else.

Fine pair of shoes - Great shoes, I wear a 10.5 normal width. I ordered the 10.5 and they were too long, I received the size 10 and they fit great. I ordered on Saturday and received the shoes Monday evening, very impressive. My second pair was ordered on Monday (when I realized the 10.5 was too large), the size 10 pair arrived Tuesday night, wow. My size 10 pair had a slight defect in that the hole that was punched out for one of the lace holes had imbedded itself under the leather near the lace hole, I had to cut a tiny slit on the underside, near the lace hole and pull out the piece of hole that had been punched out. No big deal, it was just a weird bubble in the leather until it was removed from underneath. Very comfortable shoes, they started "breaking in" after the first hour.

Great quality dress shoe that will last a long time. We purchased the same pair in black since it was so nice and comfortable.

These are very comfortable dress shoes. My job does not require me to wear dress shoes so I only wear them during special occassions like weddings, funerals, job interviews. These are great looking standard cap-toe shoes that will get you through all of them. But the best part is, for dress shoes, they are very comfortable! You will be surprised at how comfortable they are. I can wear them for hours with no issues. They look sharp, are comfortable, and relatively inexpensive. These are highly recommended.

Classic style, comfortable, a great dress shoe for the office or any other occasion. I have the same shoe in brown and black, the brown are perfect, the black give me blisters even after significant break in, that is the only reason for the 4 star comfort. Overall, definitely recommended, also consider the Waverly style.

There are many things that change in the world of fashion, but men's dress shoes do not. Loafers are not dress shoes. Shoes with buckles or rubber soles, neither. Plastic (aka "patent leather") shoes had their heyday when plastic was cool, which was almost a hundred years ago. Black (or on some planets, brown, maybe) leather oxfords are the only proper dress shoes. You might as well get a pair in your width. For me, that's Johnston & Murphy, and I couldn't be any happier. The Melton is well made and uses high quality leather that keeps a good shine.

J & M make a great shoe! Zappos overnighted this pair of shoes to me and they fit like a glove. I have a narrow foot and have always had problems finding narrow shoe. The Melton is comfortable and high quality. It also looks great. I would buy them again in the future.

This is a nice looking shoe but a little stiff. The look is very professional but they have taken a very long time to break in. I can't say they are the most comfortable of shoes to do a lot of walking in. I probably won't buy another pair, but I wouldn't not recommend someone trying them out.

The finishing on it was not up to par for the price. I couldn't get the laces through the top 3 inlets because it the tongue was sewn to the outside of the shoes. They were comfortable and the size was perfect but I couldn't justify keeping the shoes with the tongue stuck like that.

I typically have worn an 11 D or wide for years in a variety of shoes and boots. I ordered this shoe in an 11D and it just didn't fit well at end of the eyelets and upper vamp. So, I called customer service, talked to Nadine and, Jaysmine (although I'm sure I've butchered her name), and they really were customer service. They recommended I go to the 10 1/2D, gave me a refund on the other shoe, sent out the new size plus a downloaded printable free FedEX label. The shoes fit perfect and are gorgeous. Thanks Zappos from a very satisfied customer.

Great fit, appreciate the optima cushion insole. I can wear all day at work. Very comfortable and stylish. All leather outsole and insole. Goodyear welt construction will last a long time and can be resoled. My fourth pair of J&M shoes. Excellent overall, well worth the investment, very pleased.

Beautiful quality shoe. Size and comfort are very good. Dark rich burgundy color. Can be worn with almost any color suit or slacks. Highly recommended.

These shoes are super classy. My husband got these to wear with navy suits and they do impress. He is fond of the brand, and with regular polishing they hold up extremely well. He gets so many compliments on them.

Quality, looks and luxury feel absolutely exceed price tag level by a significant margin. The leather is supple and comfortable and creases very well. Received many complements from observers who were convinced they were much higher end, and were surprised to find out the maker and price. Every time you shine them they look like brand new again. Wore them quite often for well over 3 years and the uppers are still it perfect condition. Only the soles are rubbing away, inevitably. Just ordered myself a new pair, but still thinking of getting the old ones repaired - I like them that much. I really hope the manufacturing and materials standards have not been not lowered since my first pair. These are probably one of the best shoes I've owned, with the exception of some Church's, but then they cost about twice the price. I usually don't bother writing reviews, but these are remarkably praise-worthy. Only thing is, although size is right, they are slightly roomy for size, and I'm usually more comfortable wearing thicker socks with them. Update: I was worried that the standards might have been relaxed, but I was pleased to find that the good just got better! The current version has been improved since my last pair. Same supple leather, the edge trimming is more substantial, stitching design subtly revised. Most importantly, the heel holds better, everything has been made tighter and it now feels perfectly true to size, so back to thin dress socks again. I love these shoes!

Very nice shoes, stylish and comfortable. The leather is soft and the footbed provides great support, it was comfortable out of the box. The only thing I don't like is the color of the sole's edge, I would have prefered it to be black instead of the antique wood design. Overall, a great shoe.
